The guy is absolutely rapid.
GIF on this thread after the Chavs game, he gives Hazard 15 yards of a head start and eats him alive in a footrace. Some people on this site don't seem to watch games.

Then why does he constantly keep getting caught in possession ( one that directly led to a goal), all I am saying is that he does not look anything like a record signing player, if you all think he is world class player that is your opinion - he looks nothing like it to me.

Young-ish centre backs always take time to settle in the PL. Vidic was very poor in his first season at United. The one that I can remember who adapted quickly was Carvalho at Chelsea and he was a few years older than Mangala. I think people assumed that because of the size of the fee, Mangala would fit seemlessly into the team. But he's still a work in progress, one for next year really. And it didnt help him missing pre season.

He's young and adapting to the league. Kompany started off as a defensive midfielder with us and was pretty average for a long time before he switched to centre back and became one of the best defenders in the world. Mangala has been very good at times and very poor at other times. This is to be expected. It took Demichelis a while to settle as well but he has shown his worth in key games. Even Kompany makes poor decisions here and there - like when he was caught out at Anfield - he should have been sent off in the game on Saturday because of rash tackles. Mangala has shown enough promise to suggest he can make it at the club - just needs to find the consistency in his performances.

I know it is early days but Mangala is looking more like a £3.2 million player rather than the £32 million we spent on him. He is so slow and ponderous both in mind and movement I am really worried we might have signed a lemon.

Have you ever watched him?

I simply disagree - when he receives the ball he is too slow and seems to want to dwell on the ball.

I panic every time he gets on the ball. In the opening seconds of the game on Saturday he gave a stupid pass to Yaya, who was surrounded by three players and badly caught. He is just not ready for the Prem and not surprising that fat Sam deliberately targeted him on Saturday, as LVG will do next Sunday. Those who think he is ready will change their tune fairly rapid if he costs us the derby.

Re: Mangala

For £32m one would expect him to fit in straight away. I'm not saying he won't turn out to be great but we needed a cb who was ready or if we were going for Mangala come what may, we shouldn't have got shafted on the price

Forget about the money, we paid it and thats the end of it. I'm convinced from the few times I've seen him, that he will become a top class defender. Kompany who had a good start to the season but has faded slightly, but he gets no stick. Fat Sam is bang on about our left side of defence, it's been a problem for every single left center back we've had in the past few years. Why Mancini or mp hasn't done anything about it is a mystery.

Re: Mangala

So because Fat Sam, the tactical genius he certainly is, said that he forced his players to attack Mangala, he suddenly had a shit game and is a flop for 32m? At least that's what this thread says. Yes, Clichy was bad so eventually Allardyce got it spot on, but from what people suggest Mangala was poor I don't know.

But the thing is, he was very good on Saturday. Move on.

Re: Mangala

He is going to come good, you needd to recognise that he is still young and a little raw but the inly way to get the partnership with Kompany to work is to give them game time together.

For the first dozen games of last season the majority of fans didn't rate MDM, but he played exceptionally well in the secon half of the season. If someone of his experience needs time to settle then Mangala certainly will.

Re: Mangala

This thread is like a timejump to last year with MDM.

Mangala will come good. The gaping holes in front of him don't help.
