Re: Mangala

The size of the transfer fee seems to be the issue with a lot of people.
If he only cost 10m then most would say he needed time to settle etc but for 32m people expect a bit more from a player.
The fact is though is that the player doesn't set the fee and imo the guy will come good and people should get off his back as he's probably under enough pressure as it is

spot on. once he has adjusted he'll be awesome for us.

Mangala

Sam targeted the left side of our defence, not Mangala specifically, and what's clear about Mangala is that he is a quick learner; he had an excellent second half. We do expose our central defenders though by pushing on our full backs when we play a midfield two.

Every time we buy a new player we have fans quick to criticise. Surely we have seen enough signings to have learnt that we must give players time, no matter what their price tag.

Yeah, they said they targeted the left because Mangala was left exposed by the full back. The same happens on the right but Kompany is used to it. Happened to Demichelis as well and it took his 3-4 months to get comfortable.

The left side is even more exposed when silva plays wide left I do feel sorry for clichy left exposed every time he plays. Have no doubt mangala will in improve and it will bode well for us next season maybe this if we are still in all comps come march a more solid formation away from home would also help while he settles in.

Re: Mangala

mangala and Fernando need time to adjust - We have seen it to many times , even great players like Silva , henry etc took time to adjust to the new surroundings and the premier league

If he had cost 10M:
1) People will be moaning that we should have gone for quality (looking at the low price). They would take his displays (good IMO expect Hull) and compare them with Lescott and say that Lescott was superior (perhaps adding b/c he was also expensive)
2) And/Or they will be arguing why we let the likes of Benatia (who hasn't exactly shined) go.

There is just no pleasing some people

So because Fat Sam, the tactical genius he certainly is, said that he forced his players to attack Mangala, he suddenly had a shit game and is a flop for 32m? At least that's what this thread says. Yes, Clichy was bad so eventually Allardyce got it spot on, but from what people suggest Mangala was poor I don't know.

But the thing is, he was very good on Saturday. Move on.

It a forum - people see it different ways and long may it be that way, I have not got it in for Mangala I truly hope he becomes a world class player at the moment he certainly is not.

Re: Mangala

I think his talent is obvious for all to see and he's only going to get better as he settles in.

We should be well familiar with this having seen Demichelis progress last season. You can't be that forgetful
