far too many of the leagues best defenders have looked like shit when first coming over. He simply WILL get better, its that it will, inevitably, take time and a lot of it.
Given time in the position alongside Kompany, Nastasić would also get better and adapt to the role. I don't understand why Nastasić had been frozen out the way he has; he is an elite centre half of the future, he's that good.

Mangala looks as shaky as Nasta did I'm some games last season, bar the Chelsea game.

I have noticed though that Pellegrini has thrown him in to the away games. He's played at Hull Moscow and West Ham and he's looked way off the pace in all three. Away games are high pressure and can be daunting for young players. I might have thought that Demichelis (who has done absolutely nothing to justify losing his place in the side, might I add?) would have maintained his place in most games with Mangala coming in for some home games to let him settle in. Keep it like that until he's got a good few home games under his belt and feels comfortable. He's here for the long haul, so there's no rush.

I don't even think Nastasić played three games as poorly as Mangala has done so far and it left him out of the loop and looks as though he'll go and become an elite defender elsewhere.

Re: Mangala

The very same ppl who are writing Mangala of would be jizzing about him by December, when he would be settled, there is no inbetween for some ppl,if your doing good they,ll hail you as the best of the best and won't hear an alternative opinion and viceversa when your doing badly they,ll be the first one to write the player of,abuse him etc and again won't bear an alternative opinion
It's a cliche that one should be reasonable in appreciation and criticism but it holds true.
Mangala is great buy and needs time to adjust its as simple as that and below power lb havent helped his cause either yet

I wonder how many of us agree with this! Rather a lot, I would imagine.

I think Nasty lost the confidence of MP, particularly after the Villa game last year. Apart from his annoying habit of conceding unnecessary frees, I think the manager's main problem is that he thinks Matija can't play the offside trap. But he is so clearly a better passer of the ball than Eliaquim, more composed on the ball, reads the game beautifully, and seems to be an excellent pro all round.

I prefer Nasty, and, as I said, I suspect a lot of us are in the same boat.

Re: Mangala

Nastasic isn't half the player or athlete Mangala is,he is superior in every attribute.

Oh,and he has bottle in spades, something Nastasic severely lacks.

Re: Mangala

I've never seen Nasty play as badly as Mangala played v Hull.

He needs to settle and quick. Not the cleverest of players reminds me of Micha in his positioning. Still it means we aren't likely to see Boyata and he's worth the transfer fee just for that ;-)
