Re: Mangala

Considering how little time he's been at City, it's incredibly naive of people to criticise the decision to buy him already.

Does he deserve criticism for his performances? well, perhaps yes perhaps no, it's fine to pick up on mistakes and discuss them etc but to then write off the transfer as a bad one? wow. It is not many years since it was accepted that some signings might not perform for an entire season before giving you 3 or 4 quality seasons.

yes football now exists in a very fast-paced environment where near-future returns matter more and more in terms of revenue streams and fans' perception but seriously this lad could give a decade of top service if he chooses to stay that long, a couple of average performances is a drop in the trophy-laden ocean.

Re: Mangala

I'm looking forward to Mangala coming back into the side and replacing his crap twin brother.

Sam targeted the left side of our defence, not Mangala specifically, and what's clear about Mangala is that he is a quick learner; he had an excellent second half. We do expose our central defenders though by pushing on our full backs when we play a midfield two.

Every time we buy a new player we have fans quick to criticise. Surely we have seen enough signings to have learnt that we must give players time, no matter what their price tag.
THIS!!

Re: Mangala

Think some need to get off his case, some players need time to adapt. He's in a new league that's quicker and more physical than he's used to.He's played 6 games(I think) and he's clearly not yet settled into his game, yeah it's frustrating to watch but I'm more than confident he will come good,SIX games people, give the lad a chance.

Re: Mangala

I think people are judging him purely because of how good he was on his debut, we know how good he is, he's going to take time to settle in fully, but when he does, he's going to be one of the best Centre Backs in the world.

Re: Mangala

Looks like a good player to me, not afraid of coming out with the ball. MD got stick last time but settled after some bad press, I expect Mangala to do the same.

+2

An Oldius and wise head indeed... :-)

Re: Mangala

Thought he looked a little like David Sommeil and playing a bit like him at the moment. Hopefully will improve, but so far looking error prone with poor decision making and positional sense....which doesn't bode well, but still need to see more. So far nothing near like a 32milion pound player.
I remember when Kompany signed and I would tear my hair out every time Hughes started him in midfield as it was obvious he looked a far better centre back any time he played him there..where as Quims got a long long way to go to reach that level
