It appears that, regardless of how Eli plays, he can do no wrong in many people's eyes. He was dross today for 45 minutes. For the other 45 he had nothing to do. It is obvious he has talent, but he's not ready yet. Not by a long shot. Any other conclusion on what we've seen so far is just wishful thinking.
Full of absolute shite you are......

Considering the backline in which he was employed was alien to each other, add the fact one of them was kolarov......and I think he did a fine job, again.

Mangala is another player with a great attitude and appetite,we cant have enough of those.
Match of the day highlighting Mangala out of position for the first goal today, utter bollocks the fact Kolarov had gone walk about upfield and made no attempt to get back leaving Mangala totally exposed wide out had fuck all to do with it then!!

You're joking, right. Mangala has no problem if he sees what's going on. That goal was another example of his lack of awareness of what's going on around him.

Objective observers can see this guy's weaknesses. it doesn't mean he won't improve or that he's a waste of money. Just that he's some way to go before he's a top class centre half
You don't like him, fine, but watch what Kolarov doesn't do, he's caught up the pitch for one, Mangala is dragged out of position and the ball put in behind him, he try's to cover it, doesn't do a bad job in fact, but they score. Meanwhile the fullback, is just inside Wednesday's half as the ball goes in the net, if Clichy had been playing, Mangala would have been covering the cross, if a cross had in fact been made.

As a fullback, Kolarov is good attacking left midfielder, and nothing more, and Mangala should not be doing both jobs.

Let's judge the player at the end of the season.

I took an enormous amount of abuse on here defending Demichelis in his first few games. Mangala is promising, but is not good enough for us this year. Not yet, anyway. Like everyone else, I want to see him become a great player. I see the speed, the strength, the passing. I also see the panic, the stupid (reckless) tackles, the terrible positioning. We're in the business of winning the premier league and the champs' league this season. Eli is not up to that standard on a consistent basis. That much is blindingly obvious, except, that is, to all but the most blinkered.

the goal was jovetic's fault initially gifting the ball away. mangala and kolarov were both pushing forward. if your player just gives the ball away you're in trouble

Yes, you have a point about how we gave the ball away, however whilst both were pushing forward, one made a big effort to get back, the other, none at all, it resulted in both CB's being out of position, and we were caught out, both CB's out of position.

I agree that there were other contributing factors to their goal; mainly Jovetic giving it away cheaply meaning Kolarov was caught up the pitch.

However, there was absolutely no reason for Mangala to be in front of his man, he can't mark him from there. People may say Boyata was at fault as he was furtherest back and playing people on but Mangala should have been in line with him, keeping the striker in front of him; not the other way about.

He knows there's acres of space behind him and he shouldn't have let his man get behind him and run into it.

I don't think he was too bad today and yes it is an unfamiliar pairing but a mistake is mistake.
