If yesterdays nil nil is the beginning of Mangala and Otamendi keeping some clean sheets then it will be far more valuable than the two points we dropped. Honestly I have some sympathy for Mangala I see some people pointing out the free kick he gave away and the booking he got, fair enough perhaps he shouldn't have dived in but fewer people mention otamendi welly-ing the ball against an opposition player which caused it. And since he is the senior member of that partnership is it not him who should be the director of the two?

Hopefully this is the beginning of them two being a bit more solid.

I think otamendi is good enough on the ball and is a good enough defender who is a little rash at times but that can be improved. He really just needs a better defender than mangala or mdm next to him
He is decent with it and passes fairly well and moves it out from his feet well, but if Pep comes in I think he will want someone with Pique's or Boateng's quality on the ball, even if they lack a little bit defensively. I like Otamendi and I think given his limited time in England he has done well considering he's not had a settled partner and our whole system basically leaves our centre backs short. Be interesting to see how he is next year.

In fairness, the Otamendi part was mentioned, and then quickly corrected. The ball hit the opponents arm and should have been a foul for us. But regardless, everything Otamendi did in that instance was right, even if the outcome turned out wrong. He steadied himself, created some separation, and attempted a clearance. The clearance thdn creamed off an opponent's arm, that is nothing to sought blame over.

I think he tries to use his pace too much and I think it pulls him out of position too often.

Played really well last night though.

The only mistake he made last night should have been a handball for us on the touchline just before it..

Shocking so far..got to be one of the worst transfers we have done in recent memory? Doesn't look in danger of improving that's the scary part

Mangala is shockingly bad. No touch, erratic, passing poor, decision making poor, clumsy as fuck. The only two qualities i can see are pace and a decent height but on that basis Usain Bolt must be worth 200 million !

I agree with the previous post that it is worrying that he doesnt look to be improving. There are so many better centre backs in the premier league who would cost little by comparrison. If Mangala is so inexperienced then get him farmed out on loan for experience. I hope we sign a centre back in thhe window as a priority because there are bargains out there who are far better than Mangala
