Player Topic: Eliaquim Mangala (2015/16)

Kolarov despite being blue through n through has been consistantly shite defensively for his time here bar one good half season, Tarka has had 4 good games when he isn't ducking out of tackles or falling over, demi is now showing his age and Vinny is having injury issues. Mangala is clumsy and at times hot headed, but our defense bar clichey, zabba and sanga is at times terrible, you cannot single one out
 
I'll blindly defend any City player to the outside world no problem.

But on a City forum we need to be honest. He's fucking shit. No ifs or buts.

He was never played in the correct position for us and didn't want to be here. He had become a good defender well before Pep got there.

How do you coach not to jump at balls that are clearly going to bounce over your head? I would have thought as a professional footballer that basic skill should already be there. Mangala does this almost every game.

It's no more than hope and if he does then I will happily take a bashing but for me he is not good enough and I can't see him getting any better.

Today with mangala it was mistakes from no pressure simple defending,for 30 million quid it's ridiculous

Really? I never rated him here or at Bayern either before nor since Pep arrived.

As for the future, I'm sure like me, you at least hope he'll work out. I think with a better manager he will, I honestly do.
 
I honestly don't believe he is as bad as some people make out, of course he makes some mistakes and is frustrating but he is constantly left exposed down the left and our system offers little by way of protection. Pelle's tactics and high line would make any central defender struggle.

just said only 3 defenders and vinny can be classed as playing well Mangala is no worse than the otter, but hopefully with youth on his side he will improve, same as ottamendi I hope next year after a full season he will be better, our midfield never protects the defence and we look vulnerable all the time, but when your left back goes missing for most of the game the job is harder.

For me if Zabba is ready I would rather see Mangal tried at left back (if clichy isn't fit) where he played at youth level and Sanga deputising for Vinny at RCB

Zabba -- Sanga --- Otamendi --- Mangala
