Defensively sound, but his distribution into the midfield remains suspect, especially when the ball has to travel any great distance. He has to improve that aspect but in the meantime other players need to do more to show for him so that he doesn't have to attempt such passes.

Good tonight but not tested much.

Last season against Chelsea at home he was awesome. Same again would be nice.

Looked relaxed and confident in the OS vids and starting to show his many qualities on the field. Cue Ratboy "clumsy" insults next week when he comes back on Sky.

was pretty good but will face tougher tests! he should maybe stop trying to thread the eye of a needle with his passes out of defence but otherwise a promising start

Played better than Vincent when defending last night.
A good sign, as his problems were really against the dross in the first two thirds of last season

A great defensive performance; but passing out from the back seemed to be a weakness- I'm sure he can solve that in the future.

Did well, shackled Lambert and he made some good interceptions. Needs to work on his distribution out from the back though

His vision for long passing is better than Kompany imo.

A couple of loose passes but no worse than Vinnie in this regard. Certainly not bad enough for the amount of comment on them here.

I suppose if the commentator keeps highlighting every time it's him that plays a loose one then people will pick up on it.
