think the MLS starts in march,i may b wrong!! i would expect him to stay to then, like henry n that yank who played for everton did. NYC will make a lot of new signings in the next few months to hype them up I'm sure, you've got to remember NYCFC are a MCFC franchise so we call the shots basically.
That 'yank' you're referring to wouldn't happen to be MLS all time leading scorer Landon Donovan would it :)

Kreis said today that his loan won't be extended and I tend to believe him. He and villa are the center of their marketing and ST efforts.
Then we need to buy a midfielder in January.

yes seeing how the New york is setup solely on Frank and Villa , he would be going back definitely , but yes do see him staying as late possible before the MLS starts

I think you might be right, I thought his loan was until the end of Jan, which will cover for the AFCON anyway, and I reckon it will be extended until the end of Feb, when he can hopefully pick up a Lague Cup trophy with us, hopefully vs Chelsea in the final ?

I think we've got to be careful with our partner clubs. The second we start taking their players without regard to their club the whol idea of a partnership ends. Lampard is a big ticket signing for NYCFC, and like Villa at Melbourne they pretty much call the shots.

Re: Frank Lampard

Its been suggested he could stay until May, which would mean missing only 2 months (roughly) of the MLS season, the question is whether he would be able to go from playing a bit part role here all season, playing straight through to a full season in MLS where he would be playing every game. I can't see that happening, so I think him leaving early Feb is likely to happen. I would like another midfielder in January in this case, its a shame Zuculini didn't go somewhere on an initial 6 month loan (its also a shame he went to Valencia where he isn't getting a game).

Signing of the season for me.

Arsehole Whinger, says its "immoral".

I think Wenger's going senile in his old age. Lampard was out of contract in the summer, a free agent, there was no transfer fee wherever he went.

MCFC are paying the entirety of his wages while he is here, so where is the moral problem?!

Lampard Open To Extended City Stay

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard has suggested he would be open to extending his loan from New York City beyond its current January deadline.

The possibility of the 36-year-old staying in England has been raised after City manager Manuel Pellegrini admitted it was "not impossible" to extend his loan.

New York have made Lampard central to their marketing structure ahead of the new franchise's inaugural MLS season, but it does not start until mid-March, with pre-season training beginning in January.

And Lampard said: “That will obviously be a club decision first and foremost. I wouldn't want to get too ahead of myself. It's not my place to do that.

“I'll just train as hard as I can and play as well as I can - that’s the important thing – then we'll see what happens. I'm signed here until January so that's all I can say at the minute.”

Lampard surpised many by opting to play for another Premier League club and a title-rival to former team Chelsea after a long and illustrious career at Stamford Bridge.

But the former England international said: “It's been an easy transition. I feel good and I'm really enjoying it here.

"It's very different to Chelsea. I was there such a long time that you just go on auto-pilot in the end. You drive in every day, you know everybody behind the scenes.

“But the lads are great, the people behind the scenes have welcomed me; the staff, the manager, Brian Kidd. I didn't have to make this decision but it's good to test yourself in life.”
