Given this is Pellegrinis final season im sure it was a club decision to aid his development. No one could have thought we would be struggling as we ars for centre halves, its just a freak situation.

Well Pellegrini was there watching Otamendi personally pre season.

Then Denayer was offered a new contract by 'the club' with a promise of playing time.

Then we got torn a new arsehole by a mid table German team.

Then we sign Otamendi & Denayer's gone.

I deduce from that, the complete opposite. It's Pellegrini's last eason, he's playing ball with the plans of the owner, but he wants to win stuff before he goes & bow out in style, not prepare a team for the future.

'Sorry Jason but the manager has decided to sign another cb' 'We will definitely involve you next season but can't promise anything for this season' 'What do you want to do ?'

I think that is a far more realistic conclusion based on the actual evidence.

Not sure I agree with that. I think decisions regarding Denayer and Otamendi were more likely made by Begiristain rather than Pellegrini, although I suspect he had no objections.

Anyway, I don't think we have to option to recall him unless Galatasaray agreed, and I doubt they would.

So where does Mangala being asked does he want to go to Valencia on loan fit?

I had hoped that since they had mostly deployed Denayer as a RB that we might be able to work something out where we loan an EDS RB to themf or the remainder of the season but that seems to be off the table at this point.

It's a shame, I'd happily just throw money Gala's way to have him back but there's really no noise about even trying.

If that was the case, then it means Txiki has talked Denayer into signing a new deal, with the promise of first team foitball, then gone back on his word just a short period afterwards.

I don't believe our club would knowingly do that to a kid, especially one who might be worth 50 mil in a few years. I think Pels arse went, so he asked for Otanendi then we couldn't shift anyone out, so Denayer had to go, as Demi is his mate & Mangala/Otamendi cost a fortune & Pellegrini couldn't see the possibility of Denayer playing other positions. I think the way he farted around with Denayer & Lopes pre season showed tgat he wasn't serious about either, & he thought Lopes would be loaned out too but he was sold

This meant we couldn't sign a striker or put Kelechi in the Champs lg squad. Typical Pel fuckup ino but I have no proof. Just seems logical to me.

No idea if we can buy him back from the loan but hope we leave him for Pep instead.

The Otamendi move smacked of opportunism, Valencia needed cash and owed us a fair bit, they offered us a player we liked. The problem was Demichelis was suppose to leave but didn't so we took the next best option which was to loan out Denayer to get experience.

I don't think anyone at City expected Demichelis to decline as fast as he has and for Kompany to have his worst season injury wise since his arrival. Coupled with a few injuries for Mangala we were lucky that Otamendi signed.

I not sure if City made the right call but if Otamendi had gone elsewhere and we were left with Demichelis, Mangala, Kompany and Denayer, by the injury records of those 4 this season, Demichelis and Sagna would probably have started an awful lot of matches as our centre backs.

This. It was all about the Negredo sale. And denying United a player they desperately needed.
