Good to see that some posters are resisting the mob mentality prevalent on this thread. Navas is not the greatest crosser of a ball it is true. However, he is usually crossing the ball into a penalty area where there are 4 defenders against one attacker and who are, therefore 4 times as likely to intercept the ball before the attacker does. Secondly, if all those times he is accused of not looking before crossing it, he did look, he'd have to stop, turn round and play it backwards because our midfield is so far behind him. Most of his work is outstanding and I'm inclined to believe that he is just the latest figure to fulfil the need, an increasing number of people have, to apportion blame for any adversity.
How many games will it take to realise Navas isnt any good. Every single week its the same bloody thing, gets into a great position and he fucks it up. Just annoying to watch now.

This!!! My feelings exactly. It is difficult to cross from this position especially on the ground. Don't get me wrong at times he can do better but he isn't as bad as he is protrayed here.

At least he has a sense of humour

Navas is about as frustrating a footballer as I've ever seen, playing for City or otherwise. He's got so much going for him, his workrate is excellent, he's quick and he can keep going for 90 minutes without dropping his intensity. However where he lets himself down, time and time again, it's with his distribution, specifically his final ball into the box. If the striker is outnumbered 3 or 4 to 1, as is often the case, then I'm not going to castigate Navas for failing to pick him out, however the number of times he hits the first man, in the ankles, with his cross is infuriating. Beat the man, then whip the cross in, not too high as we no longer have the likes of Dzeko to get on the end of them, but get it past the man you've supposedly just beaten!!! If Navas had been mediocre in his crossing on Saturday we'd have had 5 or 6 further opportunities to get on the end of a cross and possibly score, but as his crossing was horrendous we didn't.

The issue is it doesn't really matter how many defenders are in the box compared to attackers, he hit the vast majority of his crosses straight into the guy he was up against. There could have been 5 unmarked City players in the middle and it wouldn't have mattered as the ball wasn't getting any further than about 3 feet from Navas before the defender blocked it. Once or twice is unfortunate, or good defending, once it's getting close to double figures you need to start to question the ability of the crosser.

Cannot be any worse than navas

If we want someone in who is a better crosser I'm not convinced Roberts is the answer. I'm far from a Roberts expert however I did watch the U19 City v Juventus game. Roberts was City's best player, I thought he was superb, however he didn't go past on the outside and cross the ball all that often. His "go to" move was running more directly towards goal, and coming infield. If anything he needed to look up and pass the ball a bit more as, at times, he was too selfish.

I always thought

Jesus + Cross = Easter

now I think

Jesus + Cross = shinned clearance behind goal by opposing left back, flapping of hands and shaking of heads by centre forwards, followed by crowd roar of excitement at the prospect of a corner, followed by a groan with a realisation that the delivery from that said corner will be crap.....and this process repeated 30 times. Oh and every 10th time the opposition will break like fuck from their penalty box and cause some mental breakdown at the back.

If that's the case and you have no other option but to cross it then you do a Kolarov, you hammer that right between the defence and the keeper, every chance it goes in off a defender, Navas shows a real lack of composure and intelligence in these positions.

Still looks more effective than Navas....

Also in that same game, he got an assist from a cutback from the byline
