It was telling that when navas came on time and time again the opposition full backs were pulled to within yards of the line, that then pulls the centre backs further apart and creates channels for our attackers. That said in some games ie when we are playing an 8 man defence this impact is less than when we are playing better side. He has been great this year overall

At last Navas get a bit of credit he deserves. Too easily made a scpaegoat on here. We all know his final ball should improve. Kolarov needs to defend better, Kompany needs to work on his long ball, Mangala needs to work on sometimes drifting away mentally, Hart is not as good diving to his left than right, Silva sometimes holds up the game when directness is needed, KDB is sometimes too direct when holding up is a better option, ...anyway, you get the point I'm making.

yep, gotta admit I`m not his biggest fan but navas changed the game on Saturday as it allowed us to alter our shape slightly and he pulled their left hand side towards the touch line allowing more space for kev, merlin and Sergio! this season on reflection jesus has had a great start and long may it continue!

That's a really accurate list actually.

He's always a threat coming on in the 2nd half. Its when he starts that he doesn't always make an impact.

Jesus Navas excels at stretching the defense, driving forward and getting into tremendously awesome positions where the last person on the pitch you'd want to have the ball is... Jesus Navas. /sigh

Thank you! I've been saying this since he signed, he needs to be that impact sub. When he starts it seems like he paces himself but when he comes on with fresh legs he really goes all out and gives opposing defenses a lot more to deal with.

Seems to have very recently returned to the more direct and instinctive player we had in his first season with us. Last season when the ball was played in front of him to run on to his very first thought seemed to be, slow down/stop, turn back and pass backwards or sideways, if he was really forced to try a cross then it would almost inevitably be blocked because the slowing down/stopping would mean he was closed down. After a dodgy first few matches this season he seems to have thought "fuck it" and be playing a bit more instinctively again. I look at Sterling who turned up trying to take people on as often as possible and he seems to be going down the same route of playing it safe as if he's scared of losing possession.
