Bony didn't give him a chance. How are you supposed to put a cross in when your striker gives you no movement and just lets the defenders get between you and the ball? Yaya made a run one time and KDB perfectly put it on his foot.

rojo wasnt the reason for KDB having a relatively quiet one, it was the players around him that didnt allow him more time in the game, only yaya up front was anywhere near working with him. Sagna, sterling, bony didnt support him or read the game well... Had silva or aguero been on the pitch it would have been a totally different game him

looked knacked at the end, hope he misses the mid week game, with the international games he's due a rest. given no room that silva would help create for him and bony left him isolated. would have liked to see him in the middle, taken bony off, push yaya up top for his strength and play sterling kdb and navas behind to support

I'm not surprised he was lacking in sharpness yesterday. De bruyne, Sterling and Fernandinho have had to overcompensate on the defensive end because of Yaya and Bony's complete lack of any semblance of defensive pressure over the last few weeks.

He's going to have the occasional poor game, but it just wasn't a game for the attackers yesterday. We'll move on. Will be good to have Silva back soon just to freshen the attack up a bit.

This is true & I mentioned it midweek.

The balance of the team has been such that it's asking too much of those players. But as our best player, DeBruyne should have been given preference vs Utd, instead of the team being built to suit Yaya. Then he would have found more space in dangerous areas. Pellegrini's only mistake imo.

He had a lot of work to do yesterday. With no Silva or Aguero I think a lot of people look to him to pick it up and he knew it. He tried a lot of killer passes yesterday and was marked out of the game. Can't fault his effort or work rate though. Another day when a team has to contend with Silva, Aguero and KDB, he'd be killing them off with the space he'd get.

I agree. The player most likely to do damage yesterday was De Bruyne despite not playing well. There were a few moments of genuine quality and I was surprised to see the same team after the half time break when the obvious answer was to get De Bruyne on the ball more. Moving De bruyne inwards and subbing Navas on for Yaya was the call that i would have made.

For me De Bruyne would of been better in Yaya position and Navas on the right! Not playing yaya when he's fit we don't seem to do

Rojo is not good enough to handle De Bruyne on his own. The difference was that Rojo had to keep De Bruyne out of the game and got a lot of defensive support of his teammates (De Bruyne was the only player they had to watch out for defensively) and De Bruyne got no attacking support at all from his teammates (due to the Pellegrini tactic).

Rojo would also keep Messi out of the game with the same support for him and the same lack of support for Messi. Despite the fact he's not the best defender out there.

Wasn't great. Yet he was the architect of our most likely opportunity of stealing the game.

You see, the way he played on Sunday is pretty indicative of how I think he's played for us in the other games, particularly Sevilla. The difference is he scored a goal against Sevilla. The winning goal. In the last minute. That kind of clouds people's judgement on what a player has done for the rest of the game.

I'm not a De Bruyne boo boy, I think he's a great player with incredible potential. I'm delighted we've got him. He's going to come up with some huge moments at decisive times for us. But his general play has a lot of room for improvement.

And to even mention him as possibly our best ever player at this stage is absolute lunacy.

Again, I never mentioned him as possibly our best ever player. You just read that into what I said. Second, this he was considerably worse in this game: The normal consequence of playing mid week, and our players being poor in possession overall ( including Kev). But he was far superior against Sevilla before the goal, and had he not been, that goal ( which wasn't your routine tap in) makes his performance even better.

And just for the record, I claimed he had had the 'best start' to his City career.

Other than the second half against Newcastle where he was absolutely phenomenal, his performance at Old Trafford was fairly typical of his all round performances so far.

Assists and goals can cloud people's judgement of an all round performance. The fact he got no assists or goals on Sunday meant people could analyse his performance with a clearer view.

I actually think Sunday will be good for him, it will tempur people's expectations to be more realistic. "Reminds me of Colin Bell" "Future Balon D'Or winner" "Better than Silva" "Best ever start to a City career" "Going to be the best City player in history". Just some of the hyperbole on these pages over the last couple of weeks.

A more realistic appraisal is a player with huge potential, a match winner with plenty of room for improvement in his all round game. That's been my view all along, and Sunday only confirmed it further.

It didn't help that 3 others had poorish games (YaYa, Sterling, Bony). I think he was better than OK to be honest.

No way man. He was at his absolute worse against United. Almost no completed passes and forced thing way too much. Look at his chances created in previous matches. Certainly not a typical preformance.

Against Sevilla, he was definitely not as poor as he was against united. Other than 2 bad crosses and a bad corner, he was pretty good in that game compared to the rest of the team even without his goal.

According to Kev's manager (Patrick De Koster), De Bruyne's father manages his finances and Kev only receives 10% of his wage for his daily life. Looks like he has a good entourage ;)

Bet you was dying for him to have an off day so you could still keep going on about someone saying he has had a better start to his City career than Silva.
