Ye, the ref gave a pen so it should have been a red by the letter of their law, any computer whizz, who can slow it down so we can know once and for all?

It's irrelevant mate, going to ground from behind is now considered a foul automatically as its seen as dangerous play.

yeah i'm sure the club will consult you if they will play him or not again if he will have a bad game....you may tell them that we have WC players like denayer on loan who is head and shoulders over a shit otamendi....you just seems desperate for him to fail just to say you was right about the eds boys...god and please let's just not degenerate this into a further pointless conversation about it. if you agreed with me good if not good too

I gather you are about 10 years old.

Seen many a tackles like this where the player has got the ball and no foul has been given, I do understand why it's outlawed as it can be wreckless. Let's just hope he doesn't find himself in this situation too often for City, looks like he was way off the play?

Didn't see the game so can't comment.

As for that type of tackle, I'm with you in that I can see why it's outlawed but at the same time it's a bit of a shame, used to love making tackles like that, it takes real skill to get the timing spot on.

Spot on, it limits a defenders ability as a lot of them would have no doubt started playing in defence due to their timing of tackles but it does weed out the pretenders who just play to hurt people ( more aimed at lower league football and amateur level )

His youtube highlight have lots of tackles like this, he's going to have to change his game quite a lot or he'll be picking up plenty of cards.

Imo he has another problem too, in that if you were to show the only decent highlight of last night's match, it's when he won two tackles in succession, but as on quite a few fanboy vids, the second tackle was technically two footed in a kind of stamping motion. Not dangerous at all & gets the ball cleanly, but do that to Rooney or Diego Costa, & you are likely to end up with a red card as they chuck themselves over.

Not sure he will get away with it at all & it's one of his favourite tackles.

I don't think he can have any complaints, that is one of the most blatant penalties I've ever seen. Not as clear cut as the 3 we should have had V United at home last season though it has to be said

I am a bit concerned that his style of tackling will be severely punished by Premiership referees, but hopefully his new team mates will give him a heads up and he'll adapt quickly enough.

Hate to say it but him vs. Bolasie this weekend has got red card written all over it.

Yep, I clocked that, particularly in one of his games vs Barca. He does that in a big game and he's gone, I don't think you could complain too much either as even if he's not endangering a player as soon as you take both feet off the ground the refs looking to punish you.
