Otamendi & Kompany are forming a great understanding. The first time I've been comfortable with two centre back pairings in a long time.

This. Since the start of the 2012/13 season I've panicked every time we've been defending for some reason, even after the master class that was 2011/12, but these last 2 or 3 games with Otamendi and Kompany together, I've been confident they'd clear their lines.

This lad is the real deal, I had prattled somewhere on here that once settled, he and Vinnie would become our first choice CB partnership and have seen nothing to convince me otherwise.

Shame for Mangala who I'm sure will get game time in the cups and against weaker opposition, but this is as solid as we have looked at the back in a long, long time and its as refreshing as a cold beer on a hot day :)

Bit surprised the amount of praise he's getting after last nights performance tbh, seems a bit surprising given the absolutely pathetic attempt at a tackle for their goal. But I guess when the crowd is on your side then they look at the positives and ignore the negatives, and vice versa when they are against you. He'd be getting lynched on here for that terrible attempt at a tackle with his wrong leg if he hadn't just had a couple of commanding games. Other than that howler he had a good game though and he doesn't look like he lets mistakes bother him, which is always useful.

He is an authoritative presence at the back though, always looks confident and he attacks things well. Still think he's rash though and will need to calm down in the way Demichelis did if he wants to avoid some costly clangers. The best is surely still to come as he adapts to the league and our system, which is pretty ominous given how well he's started. Doubt there is a team with 3 centerbacks like our though, I'm not sure many teams even have one as good as any of ours.
