That can not possibly be based on performance surely? I love Zabaleta as much as the next man, but he's way off this season. The moment Sagna went to right back we looked much stronger.

He is playing like its pre season, for him it is. Leave him out of the Derby, Palace and Norwich give him 90 minutes, then I'll judge him. Hopefully he's just not up to speed yet.

All as I'm saying is it's too early to write him off yet,and Sagna is no spring chicken neither,so he will need a rest soon as well

Sad to see, and was superbly protected by Navas last night. Hopefully it is just him getting back to full match fitness, but at this level, we have to put personal preferences aside and pick the best we have in each position. For me, that is Sagna.

Absolutely this. He's been positionally poor for a while, not just last night. I was in the Family Stand last night rather than 109 so got a better view of the game. There was one moment in the second half when he was upfield, we lost the ball and Sevilla went forward. He barely even jogged back and hadn't even got back in position when Sevilla took a throw-in. In the first half, they were attacking down our right and he hadn't a clue where he should be. Someone (KdB I think) had to tell him.

I think he should be benched Sunday. I think as good as he is going forward in a game of that magnitude we need eleven players willing to run their bollocks off.

Not sure if he's been the victim of sly editing by Sky or not, but I had to smile at his comments on SSN. He'd obviously been asked about title rivals, and the clip showed his answer, which went something along the lines of "we can't forget about Arsenal, or even Chelsea". He probably did mention our quiet neighbours, and it's been edited out. He wouldn't strike me as a Mike Doyle "stirring things up" type character, but I would "luv it" if he had ignored them!

He is , like his South American compatriots in our team , suffering from severe burn out.

He needs a rest from football this summer . Instead , he has another month long World Cup qualifying competition to get trough.

Too much football.

Hopefully we'll see the real Zab return soon. And for the few writing him off at this juncture need their fuckin sets adjusting.

Navas and Sagna

Zabeleta and anyone else

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE IS IT

People write him off because they don't know their arse from their elbow.
He's obviously a yard off the pace because he's just coming back from an injury - that said he wasn't even the worse full back last night!
Sagna was awful and we could have lost the game quite easily had they made more of all the chances that came from his ball watching and overall cluelessness of his surroundings. To balance I accept he was on his weaker side but fuck me he looked lost at times.

FFS Sagna was playing out of position. He has been brilliant all season. Cut him a break.

What like people are cutting Zabaleta a break? I said he was on his weaker side but that doesn't negate the fact it was the worse ive seen him play for us.
He has been brilliant this season, no complaints there. The discussion centred on Wednesday night though so if we're going to use past performances I'd say Zabaletas got more fucking money in the bank with fans than pretty much every player out there. That doesn't seem to be the case though does it?
