Someone needs to get him in training and drill him using his left foot, would bring so much more to his game if he improved his left side as he could go past defenders on both sides.

I remember Shaun Wright Phillips being very slight in frame and didn't look like he would make the levels he did. He bulked up and developed a hammer of a shot on him. Sterling has got plenty of time to develop, least he's getting into the position to get these chances. He had one of his best games for us on Wednesday now today we are all ready to crucify him. We are a fickle bunch.

Maybe we should try him on the right, seeing as he is predominantly right footed and God forbid he should get a chance it's more likely to fall on his right foot.

Granted he needs to work at his finishing (which has improved) and he needs to train to be more capable with his left, but at times its shade of Adam Johnson being utilised on the right under Mancini which heralded some success, but a lot of frustration for the rest.

He can't really kick the ball very well. Which is amusing really given his profession.

Doesn't strike the ball cleanly when passing or shooting, doesn't use his left foot (the one time he did he scored in Seville!), does the same cut inside trick regardless of success rate, can't quickly interchange passes with our other technical players.

He's purely pace at the moment, and the threat that gives us.

Has plenty of time on his side and with some solid work on the training field he can develop into a very good player. We need to be patient with him, despite his frustrating flaws.

Was very unlucky with the head, I don't think he could have done much different in fairness to him.

Yeah when he side foots it the contact is made close to the ankle, meaning the kick is straight rather than curved.

He should be on the training pitch every day putting in the extra hours completely redeveloping his kicking technique; Barker is miles ahead of him in that regard, and with experience can be eclipse him in every other element as well.

He's got to show a desire and willingness to develop over the next 6 months; we have Barker, Iheanacho and Roberts in the ranks, who're all more naturally talented footballers than Raheem. If he doesn't improve significantly by the summer and the other three do I'd offer him to Arsenal in a swap for Aaron Ramsey.

This isn't a dig because I think he's a good player and I would probably have left him on today because he offered a threat. However, what does he have that Barker, Roberts or Nacho don't have - other than a price tag? What I mean by this is, he doesn't strike the ball cleanly meaning his passing and finishing aren't of great quality. He isn't a particularly good crosser and he doesn't seem to beat his man all that often. Is it purely pace/threat and a little bit of tactical discipline?

I don't Barker will make it here not seen enough of Roberts to comment.

What does Sterling have over Barker, Roberts and Nacho apart from price tag? Great question! Im having a think but can't come up with all that much!...

Exactly. That's not as dig at all as I rate Nacho and Roberts. Barker might not be quite at their level (not seen enough of him) but he appears more technically adept that Sterling.

Experience and proof that he can do it at the top level.

I'd have liked to see him confident enough to hit it with his left. I've watched it a fair few times though and nothing has convinced me the players contact as Raheem cuts inside doesn't warrant a penalty.

He was tripped, no need for the theatrics though.
