Player Topic: Raheem Sterling (2015/16)

This has been a huge step in class for him and at the moment, he doesn't seem a natural fit. Has pace and ability to get past a man, but when it gets to the business end of the pitch, seems to freeze and /or make poor decisions.

I'm sure he will improve with time, but at the moment, should not be an automatic 1st teamer

Who else though? KDB should start consistently, Navas is useful up to a point, Nasri and Silva have been injured, Barker's out on loan, Nacho still has a lot to prove.

He's been inconsistent so far but keeping him as a regular starter will do him nothing but good at a time when we don't have a better replacement. Like Navas, even when he has a poor game, his pace hurts teams. He caused Moreno problems when on the right and was only denied an assist by a superb Mignolet save.

We could always give Roberts a chance. He's got enormous potential but isn't going to fulfill it if he isn't given significant game time (much like Sterling was when he was a teenager at Liverpool). I absolutely guarantee you that Roberts has better touch and control of the ball than Sterling does.

that would be my choice ,not writing sterling off,i just think he needs to be phased in like any 20 year old,irespective of price tab

Navas has been a couple of shocking misses away from being a stand out player so far this season so I'd be inclined to agree. The only issue is that Silva seems to bring the best out of Sterling and, in return, Raheem's presence creates all sorts of spaces that Silva drifts into so well.

In my opinion he has yet to justify his price tag. He isn't helped though by Kolorov bombing into his space all the time. Think we'll see the real Sterling when Clichy is back fit.

He's been good, poor and indifferent since his arrival. Nothing I didn't expect differently from a young player coming to a new club with high expectations.
The thing that does my head in is how so many use his price tag as a stick to beat him with. He had no control over that situation and I dont think it's helping him one bit having it thrown in his face every time he doesn't have a stormer.
He's going to be a superb player in time, anyone who hasn't seen glimpses of what he can offer hasn't been paying attention. It's just a case of coaching him in the correct manner and being patient with the lad. We will reap the benefits soon enough.

Most of our recent newbies have shown glimpses of what they can do and yet, they don't seem to be afforded the same "fan protection" that others seem do
