Are all fans as keen to attack new signings as ours? It's fucking pathetic.
It's criticism of players on a fans football forum and it's also praise of players on a fans football forum and it's also plenty of things inbetween , I don't think Sterling is worth anything like what we paid for for him and that's my opinion it's not a personal attack on a person it's just my opinion . . . Why have city fans become so precious about opinions of players[/QUOTE]

He's poor for £50 million let's get over it , I'm not talking potential or what he might be I'm talking what he is and what we paid for him , when you pay £50 mil it should be for quality not potential

The price tag is a media stick to beat us with its irrelevant what we paid for him

It's been done to death the impatience of most fans on the net is unbelievable
It just seems like some of our fans have enshrined the team of our first title win and have a hard time accepting anyone who wasn't in that team, while completely canonizing anyone who was in that team. Every new player is one mistake away from being shit

Every player we buy has the same shit thrown at them I would hazard a guess many won't be happy with Messi if he ever tipped up

Stop with the fucking "he cost £50m, my Scouse mates will say nasty things" bullshit.

Some of you need to get it in your heads that a transfer fee is never based solely on talent. The reason Sterling cost so much is because he was England's best player at the World Cup and, as such, is one of the most marketable players we have.

On top of that, people always quote the fee like we're still living in 2001. Inflation: deal with it.

So many bitches on here actively willing him to not produce as they can then walk about saying "I told you so" like it's going to have any effect other than everyone alienating them because they're one of those annoying mates that's a bit thick so nobody has the heart to tell them that they're not actually their friend.

The fee was never his decision and, even in poor form, he looks like he's one of the few actually trying to earn their wage.

The problem is people expect a 20 year old to be the world's best player.

He's put in the best individual performance from a City player in the Champions League since we qualified in 2011. He's an exceptional player who needs fans backings yet most want to slate the lad. He's scored six goals, a very good return so far, coupled with some sensational performances.

I'm not going to blame Raheem, because when he's on the pitch for us he actually looks like he gives a shit. Maybe the "fans" on here should go and spend their hours listening to talksport to fuel their ridiculous perceptions of him being "rubbish".

The problem is we have a generation of Fifa and Football manager idiots who can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that the more money you spend doesn't automatically mean you get a world class player. Sterling is 20 years old and has 6 goals and a couple of assists and we're not even halfway through the season yet. I'd say he is right on course for where he should be. Of course I might as well tell this to a brick wall because unless he individually wins us the Champs League those idiots will keep spouting their shit.

He's not the next Messi, far from it. There's no 'next Messi' out there. The price is just a stick for people who aren't happy with him to beat him with. Personally I couldn't care less how much we paid, the facts are that after 4 months with us he's been excellent on occasion and poor on others. I'd rather look at his better games and take solace that he's got it in him to perform at the top level rather than dig him out for misplaced passes, decision making and finishing - all stuff that can be coached into him given time.

As I've said before, the price tag isn't his fault but the club's and that's where my frustration is directed in that respect. We've paid through the roof for a player who really isn't that good.

Decision making, passing and finishing...all the attributes you'd want a player in his position to be good at, when he's not. So of course I'll dig him out for that.

To put things another way; if we had a team of 11 players in their respective positions who have the limited talent which Raheem Sterling possesses we wouldn't be looking at finishing much higher than 10th. He's nowhere near the class I'd expect any player to be at who pulls on a blue shirt costing that amount of money (again - clubs fault not his).

The quicker we admit our mistake and rectify it by replacing him the better. Blind faith in the lad will only result in dissapointment and a set back in our ambitions as a club.

We're not going to come close to agreeing with each other on this subject. Our views are so far apart the best thing is to see how things develop from here. I think he'll be a success, you don't.
As for those attributes you want a player in his position to have, he has them all and has already shown them in his short time here. Consistency is his problem and that can be improved upon. I wasn't saying he couldn't do any of those things, just that he can get better at them. Studying Silva, Aguero and KDB on a daily basis is the best footballing education a player in his position, at his age could ever dream of.
