Give the lad a break those that are having a go at him. He undoubtedly has more quality than say Navas but needs to improve on certain areas which he should be working on in training. However Navas was the weak link yesterday with again poor quality crossing and end product.

Not to many are having a go at him. Most blues are pointing out he needs to make improvements In his shooting and final passes. He's like Navas in that regard, though he's much younger so has time on his side.
He has been closely marked in the last season or so, therefore defenders are giving him closer attention.

At that sort of money you expect instant results. It's not like this is his first season in the league

What I dislike is that he's the winger yet always stops and waits for Kolarov to run past him and then does a 5 yard pass back to someone.

That's clearly what him and Navas are instructed to do. I'm not saying it's right, but if they are told to do that, and do it, then any fault of it not working is on Pellers. That being said, it does seem to work, the issue is Kolarov looks knackered atm.

I can see the arguments for both sides, Sterling isn't performing like a £49M player, he needs to improve his shooting and being more confident in taking a man on but he does have time to improve and he still does bring a lot to the side even when not playing great as evidenced when being taken off and how narrow, turgid and flat we become.

We look A LOT better with him on the pitch than without him. When subbed against Juve and West Ham we looked worse going forward straight away on both occasions.

He played well in his first 4 games and he has overall started much better than some more established players. He was one of the biggest reasons for our great start as he offered us an option we've never had before.

The opinion on him seems to have weirdly changed since ITV did a job on him for England and Gerrard did after the Juve game for BT.

He's had a good, solid, if unspectacular start and he's only going to get better.

We are a better team with him in it than without him which is telling of his quality in my opinion.

He has every attribute to become a top player, albeit his finishing is the biggest area that needs to improve, but I think his overall end product will improve anyway as he gets older and gains more experience. He is still only 20 years old which many forget.

At City 90% of the time he is going to be coming up against well organzied and compact teams that will take up pretty much all of the space he needs to thrive. I think once he overcomes this hurdle and can start performing consistently against such tactics then that's when we will start seeing a top class player arrive in my opinion.

What do people think his best position for us actually is? I think he's very predictable on the left and too many chances end up falling on his left foot which he only uses to stand on. Playing centrally is not really an option because of Silva and De Bruyne. Playing on the right might perhaps give him more shots with his right foot, and maybe he can just put his foot through it more instead of the side-footed efforts he produces from the left. He cant really cross, which is a negative to having him on the right, but he can't be any worse than Navas. De Bruyne influenced the game almost immediately from the left when he came on v Palace. Maybe it would be worth trying it that way round, with Silva in the middle (when fit?).

Though to be honest, we have three exciting players, but no ideal way to get them all in the same team. At least not in my opinion anyway.
