Yep,the ref decided to let play continue when he had been fouled so Jovetic decided to exaggerate the incident.......I don't agree with the dive but I can understand his frustration at the lack of an initial award.

I rate Jovetic,i wouldn't want him sold.

I like jovetic too, and was glad to see him start today. Was it really a dive?
Yes

And as has already been pointed out, it's not the first time Jovetic has been nominated for an Academy Award. There was zero need to go to ground on each ocassion, he made said decision by himself = dive.

Less of it please, Stevan.

Re: Jovetic

Played very well today, think his goal will have taken a weight off his shoulders. Can't abide by the diving though, got to cut that out.

Both defenders intended to foul him. Can't blame him too much myself, I probably would've done the same thing. He just needs more practice

When is the next Ashley Young course?

Re: Jovetic

The general consesus seems to be that he's not an out and out striker, more a 10. And yet he's been excellent for us when he actually gets in the box, disappointing outside it.

Re: Jovetic

I don't think Aguero and Jovetic linked that well but I am sure it will come with games

And that goal could be key. He just needs some confidence. He's got the quality

I like Jovetic because he tries to make things happen even when he's struggling.

Re: Jovetic

Much better yesterday, noticeably less of the flicks and unnecessary first time lay offs. Can only really remember one daft attempt at going past three or four players in the first half, when he should have moved it on to Yaya or Nasri. Still think he has what it takes to come good.

On the diving: unnecessary, and does him little credit. Referees have to stop penalising players for staying on their feet though - it was a foul, and had Jovetic gone down on contact, he would have got a free-kick. Doesn't excuse it, but perhaps makes it more understandable.

He was certainly more of a handful than Sergio was today.Just couldn`t seem to get going and some of his touches were awful.Hopefully just a bad day at the office for him and hopefully saving himself for Tuesday.

Aguero had 7 shots and made 2 key passes, both stats being higher than his season average. Not his most effective game but I am betting Swansea's defence found him at least as much of a handful as Jovetic.

Re: Jovetic

Stevan Jovetic has fired himself back into form - and now he is desperate to be unleashed on Bayern Munich.

And he reminded everyone that the last time he faced Bayern in the Champions League, he scored twice, as Fiorentina won 3-2 in 2010.

Jovetic reinforced his claims for a place in the starting line-up tomorrow with the opening goal against Swansea, following on from a penalty equaliser for Montenegro against Sweden.

“Everything is confidence,” Jovetic told M.E.N. Sport afterwards. “When you are a striker, scoring brings confidence, and for a team, winning brings confidence.

“We won an important game against an important team like Swansea, and that alone gives us confidence.

“We believe but we must go base by base. We are not in a position to say we are going to go all the way, but we have faith.

“Bayern are a good team, but I played against them with Fiorentina a couple of years ago and played well.

“Two years ago we played them in the Audi Cup and it was 0-0 at half time and we led after an hour. We can play against them.

“They also have a lot of injuries. If we want to get to the next round we have to win games and I hope Tuesday will be the day.

“My goal was so important, and scoring for my national team was just as important for my confidence.”

Jovetic was the Blues’ star man in pre-season and carried his form into the start of the campaign with a double strike to sink Liverpool, before his injury jinx struck again.

Since his return, he has not recaptured that promise, and looked like a striker badly in need of a goal.

Incredibly, the goal made ‘JoJo’ City’s second-top league scorer with three goals, behind 12-goal Sergio Aguero – and he recognises that the brilliant little Argentine needs back up.

“In the last few games, Sergio has been scoring, but he can’t play alone – we must help him like we did on Saturday” he said.

“When Edin is back fit we also need to help him to score a lot of goals and get back to where we should be, second or first.

“Right now Chelsea are eight points in front but nothing is done. This is the Premier League and nothing is done yet.

“Every player wants to put their stamp on every game, but that is especially so in the bigger games, like this one against Bayern.”

City looked much brighter on Saturday than they have for some time and Yaya Toure also picked up his second goal of the season.

Jovetic says he is mystified by some the flak aimed at Toure this season, although he also thinks the Ivorian’s relentless schedule might explain why he has not replicated his 23-goal display in the title-winning campaign.

“I am a bit surprised at the criticism,” he said. “He is a very important player for us, but I think he is tired. He played in the World Cup, he came back, he always plays for us, and he goes back to play for his national team.

“He needs a rest sometimes, but every time he plays he shows that he is a great player. He helps us play, he scores goals, he makes assists.”

City needed to end their poor run of one win in six games, and now they need to take another step forward against Bayern – and Joetic says he feels the Blues can win the last two group games and still qualify for the last 16.

“We can talk outside the pitch about how we need to get better, but in the end you need to show you are the best team – like we are – and in the Swansea game we played much better,” he said.

“Now we have a big chance against Bayern Munich. If we win that game and hopefully the other results are good for us, we have faith we can turn it back around.

“I like to play in big games, so I hope I will score again

Agree Marvin, what I like about Jovetic is that he always tries to make something happen, he always turns and goes forwards.
