Player topic: Stevan Jovetic (2014/15)

Always reminds me of a 5 a side player - running all over the pitch chasing the ball

It's not his quality that's at issue. It's his health. He can't hit full stride if he is never healthy long enough.

help me out here bluemooners

is it just me or is jovetic starting to wind you up

the constant flicks to nowhere, misplaced passes, i've no idea where his best position if indeed he has one

very frustrating

Nope one of the few 'bright sparks'.

If he's one of the bright sparks then we are in serious trouble.

You are too rach on him.
I agree with most of your analysis, but i have seen enough of him to know that he is one of our most skilled player when it comes to trickery and dummies with the ball. He just has not enough confidence to take on opponents on a regular basis ( same critic to Nasri and Navas though :-) ).
My main concern about Jovetic is, to my opinion, that he lacks football brains, which is a terrible handicap when you are an AM type of player.

Cannot agree with that at all. Can you elaborate

What i call football brains is :

_ to know when to go for a simple pass instead of the Hollywood-one, to not brake a potential attack build-up
_ to have precise position awareness of your teammates around you
_ to not take chances systematically when you have a teammate in a much better position than you

Far too often, you can predict that an attack build-up or a possession play will brake as soon as the ball reaches-him.

His "performance" today just sums up my previous post.
We really need someone to teach him some composure and improve his tactical mindset.

Good player.

Doesn't fit our system or the English game.

I'd swap for Lacazette no problem.

I don't think he's quick enough to play the way he plays. He always tries to square up his man then skip inside to try and get a shot, but he doesn't seem quick enough over that first couple of yards to actually get any space. It reminds me of Tevez in his last year here, constantly dropping his shoulder but not being able to actually get away from anyone.

I really, really want him to break out and put in some consistent performances but he isn't better than Aguero, Nasri or Silva imo. (He's more suited to playing behind the strike really)

His injury problems are probably infuriating for the club considering he's talented and fairly young but I think the English game is too quick for him as he seems to want an age on the ball and at times he can play a good pass or run nice and direct with the ball but I just don't know what he's going to do with the ball. It's like he has no idea at times.

I think if his performances don't pick up till the summer or he gets some frequent injuries he could be back to Italy.
