I'm guessing the only people telling him he's great are his Mum and Agent !!!

he's shit and the sooner we cash in the better

Really. I can understand you might feel he has not contributed as much as HE would have liked, but to say that is rediculous, and shows you have little understanding.

I understand why Stevan Jovetic will be pissed off about this decision but the truth is that city will be playing only two games before we get kicked out. As a matter of fact i guarantee this year's result against Barca will be worst than last seasons. So take solace and bid your time. I have a feeling Manuel will be gone by the end of the year.

I'm shocked we even bought this player. I rated Jovetic in Italy but better players than him have come here and failed. Simply isnt suited to the English game and never will be.

I agree he isn't shit as made out but the reality is he was never going to cut it in the prem. He likes way too much time on the ball.

I think the only reason he's been dropped from the CL squad and the only reason he's yet to have a really good run of form is due to his injuries.

I also don't buy into the idea that he loses the ball cheaply or a lot. For all of the attempts he makes to beat defenders and to get the ball passed them I don't think it's a bad ratio at all.

Is that you Stevan? Seeing as your name is an abbreviation for Jovetic....

Anagram. I mean...erm...no.

Spot on for me. He is a talented player who has probably tried too hard. One thing he has in abundance over Edin is desire and tenacity. He always has his head up, looks positive and is willing to have a go at the man in front of him. Yes he will be sore right now, but I would want him to knuckle down, prove his worth and be here next season.
Absolutely agree.

Anyone can see the enthusiasm when he takes to the field and its understandable that his first sign of dissatisfaction have come after being effectively put behind Dzeko in the pecking order.

They train together every day and Jovetic will probably feel (with good justification) that's he's a more talented footballer than Dzeko, but I see the decision that Pellegrini has taken as a choice between going with 2 out and out strikers for the balance of the CL campaign in Aguero and Bony or with 3 including Dzeko. Yes, Jovetic can play as an out and out striker, but he's best playing just off the main forward and providing the link between attack and midfield.

If there was a position we could survive with one less player it would have been attacking midfield. After what happened over the festive period, MP probably didn't want to take the risk and go with just 2 specialist strikers which I can accept and hopefully Jovetic can too. I just hope this has been explained to Jovetic and it wouldn't do us any harm if the club made a specific statement to that fact and backed it up by increasing Stevan's playing time on merit in the Premier League to compensate and appease him.

I might be wrong but I think Pellegrini will be expecting to play Aguero on his own, Aguero plus Bony, or Bony on his own, in any Champions League games to come this season, be that two, or more. He is gambling on Aguero staying fit & Bony gelling with the team.

If we need a goal to win/rescue a game at the death, which player out of Jovetic or Dzeko is most likely to come on & score it ? Traditionally it would be Dzeko.

Unless Bony struggles to fit in, I doubt we'll see Dzeko apart from in desperate circumtances or if someone's legs have gone, he's purely there imo because he normally scores more goals than Jovetic. Pellegrini ideally wouldn't want to play either of them.
That's one of the strange things about this season, our formation has become less predictable. Sometimes its 2 forwards other times 1. Some of the time it may be to do with who we have fit and others the opposition might be the deciding factor, either way I hope Bony is back-up/competition for Aguero and we don't go into the Barca game ready to commit suicide with 2 out and out strikers (unless one plays as a No 10).

Luis Enrique seems to have won the battle against Messi, with Messi not being exclusively used as a false number 9. In recent games I've seen him playing on the left and for me its no coincidence that not only has his goal-scoring form has returned, but more crucially the whole Barca machine looks ominously dangerous again whilst looking solid in defence.

All said and done if I were the manager I would have gone for Jovetic as the memories of a static, isolated Dzeko in Europe still haunts me. In games like these where we need proper footballers with skill to match the opposition, I can't see what Dzeko can offer that Jovetic couldn't, but I can definitely see the benefit of having a fit Jovetic.

However its all conjecture as the decision to go with Dzeko has been made. Hopefully we won't regret the decision.

Sorry, Anagram

If I was him, i'd be pissed off that i've been booted out of the champs league squad for a new player that's just joined when he has already contributed goals in the champs league. But I can well understand why, it's just the way it goes sometimes. Still think it was a bit much announcing it to the media like that though. When someone new comes in, you just have too show your worth more and give him a run for his money.
