TBH, it looks like it became a straight shoot out between Dzeko and Jovetic and the boss went with the former for a CL place. Personally I would have gone with Jovetic who I think is a proper footballer who just needs a run of fitness and games to get into his stride.
I've seen enough of him to gather the opinion that he can succeed here, but unless we play narrow with Jovetic, Silva and Nasri behind Aguero I see him vying for the No 10 shirt behind Silva and Nasri and he will have to accept there is also Milner and Navas in competition for the wider midfield roles.
In a way I'm glad he's pissed off for being dropped, but I hope he takes the view that we've stood by him with his many injury problems and its now up to him to consistently show his full potential and to force his way into the team.
Many of us saw something in Nasri when others wanted him gone. It took time for people to understand the benefit of having Nasri in the team and to understand the good he did for us and I can see the same situation developing with Jovetic.
To be brutally honest, I see more reason for us to keep Jovetic than Dzeko, we just need to keep faith with him and cement a proper role on the team for him. His constant injuries haven't helped his cause, but as he's pointed out, has he been injured any more than Kompany or Aguero?
