Mangala looks composed ,surely you are joking. He's anything but and not very good at any part of defending. martin looks composed, only trouble with him is he's good for a couple of howlers every game. Get Kompany and Denayer playing together and stick with them. Mangala may or may not make a left back but it's worth a try for me. All our defenders have deteriorated under pellegrini and there's the crux of the problem!

We are very lucky to have Denayer already ready to play in the first team, otherwise, we may have been pushed to spend big on another CB.
Regarding Kompany, he cannot be paired with Mangala and Mangala cannot be paired with Komps. They both leave each other exposed with rushing out. Why is it the problem with Vinnie and Mangala is nowhere near as bad with Martin alongside them?
Kompany needs to be paired with a Demichelis, Lescott type CB. By the looks of it so does Mangala. Denayer looks to be the cool head we would have otherwise had to go and buy as an injury to Martin we would be fucked.
Kompany may not return to his 2011/12 form, but he's still a world class CB on his day, and a true city player.
PS. I think that Peller's system is also partly to blame for Vinnie's bad form. Does anyone who watches Guardiola's Bayern know too much about their defensive system? Is it similar to Manuel's? More like Roberto's? Or totally different? Will Kompany be better with him? (If reports are true).

Yet he bullied Costa and Rooney early last season. Maybe too many injuries. Too much going on off the pitch. I do think our defence is badly exposed and
that doesn't help.
Nothing would please me more than seeing the old VK this season. I've been watching City since the late sixties and at his best he'd be in my First 11 in that time.

Garcia and Fernandinho would actually be a great midfield base and would allow Fernandinho to get forward which he's actually good at.never would have imagined that I would want Garcia back!

Completely agree Karen. When Mangala plays alongside Kompany, Mangala looks far less composed primarily due to being half focused on his job and half focused on anticipating Vinnie's next mistake.

I think I have figured out Vincent's problem...
He has lost a yard of pace and his brain hasn't yet adjusted to that! The injuries have caught up with him and he needs to change his game. He always used to play on getting to that ball before the attacker, intercepting before they trap the ball, charging out and winning that ball first. He simply can't do that anymore but he hasn't realised it! He needs to do more composing at the back and use his experience not his physique to defend. That is the difference between him and Martin at the minute. Hence why Mangala looks better alongside Martin as opposed to Vincent.

Lol what you described there is Vinny's game in a nutshell. He uses his physique far more than his brain. Not 100% he is intelligent enough (football wise) to be like Demi.
