Didn't want to post last night as there was too much emotion and angst in the posts. Watching the game, it was clear early doors that Vinnie had not turned up and this (IMO) had an immediate knock on effect across the whole back line. It is difficult to defend Vinnies performanace yesterday and we shouldn't try to deflect any criticism for his shortcomings due to outside infuences such as travel, injuries, baby leave ect. He was completely out of sorts.
Eli has suffered more than most on here as a result of having players either side of him being off form, and it was no co-incidence he played his best last season when he wasn't partnered with Vinnie. This provides us with a problem which the manager has to address, whether he will/can we will have to wait to see.
2nd half Denayer and Eli looked composed and had much more control (I appreciate they were 4 up and might not have been pushing as hard). For the immediate benefit of the team, IMO, Eli and Denayer should start against the baggies, and if that goes well, against the Chavs.
That then introduces the problem of how (if that is what Pellers wants to do), does he integrate Vinnie back into the side without the fear of dropping silly points, but we certainly cannot continue indefinitely like this.
