Look at how many goals we have conceded this season with him in and out of the team and you will find your answer. He is the glue that holds our shaky defence together. When he plays there is calmness, understanding and solid defending. When he is injured it's everyman for himself at the back and it's a total mess. It's bad we rely on him so badly but that is just the reality we have until either Otamendi or Mangala turn into the leader he is.
I think your missing JGBs point mate. He (as we all do) acknowledge Vinnie as the colossus he is both playing and leading, but his point is that he is failing to really stay fit for any length of time, and if it is the case that this won't improve, then we should be looking at a more stable pairing. No harm in what he has said.
