He was bought at a time when we wouldn't need to have a transfer war with other clubs in order to get him in.

He has only been here for 2 games and he has played a part in both of them. I assume Pellegrini would have started him on Tuesday but Dzeko showing up last Saturday for the 1st time in a long while meant he was undroppable should we play 2 strikers as we did

He's clearly a long term signing though but it was done earlier so we didn't end up paying more than he was worth

He thought Fernando was one of our better players on Tuesday, tells you all you need to know....

I see him as the long term replacement for Dzeko, so the first month is neither here nor there. It's next season where he should be firing on all cylinders imo, any positive contribution this year would be a bonus. If I recall correctly, Dzeko was borderline useless in his first 6 months here, then became a pretty crucial part of two title wins.

Then reverted back to being "borderline useless" again, with the first half of last weekend's game being one of the very few exceptions.

N.B. This is only my opinion and may differ from the opinions of others on here.
