YOUR DESCRIPTION OF BONY -

What I don't get is that even when he was very good at Swansea he wasn't very fast or particularly good with the ball at his feet. He's strong, good in the air and a decent poacher. I'm not sure how much he can add, and question if we're much better off with him and marginalising a more talented player in Jovetic. As soon as the next manager is playing one up front you've got to wonder where Bony will fit in.
Then he'll fit in. Won't he? Either in a 4-4-2, with Mr.A.N.Other (our new signing from utopia), against teams the manager think it will be suitable.
Or possibly as a substitute to put added pressure on a team's defence, maybe on, or around. the 60 minute mark.
Possibly he'll start in some games as the lone striker, either when he is deemed to be the most suitable option, or, if our other options for the lone striker role are injured.
There are lots of options. Or there should be. I won't moan in here, it's not the place. But, for me the
squad needs to be put together better. It needs to be
engineered or constructed around our various skill-sets which we employ to create advantages over varied opposition's formations. Obviously opposition's formation may differ from match by match, as does the quality of the opposition, and as a result the boss has to decide whether to react to it or not. But, It'd be my guess that he'll probably be employed in a 4-4-2 in the majority of his City/Pellegrini/Bony career. Call me psychic.
And really? Jovetic? All he does, for me, is inject a bit of pace. But that's it. Pace. Which to Jovetic's mind means that you do everything fast; fast pass, fast run, fast dribble; but to my eyes it always looks like its just a little bit too fast for Joveic. IMO He looks too frail and fancy as well. and it often doesn't result in any real end product; all shakey-shakey-shake-shake without going anywhere. I can't recall what the question was, but I do seem to remember that the answer was not Jovetic.
Italy beckons for young Stevan, I think. Good luck to the lad. In the meantime, if he'd like to bag a few when he comes on as a sub. whenever possible, to make me eat humble pie, all contributions will be happily welcomed.
MY DESCRIPTION OF NEGREDO -
What I don't get is that even when he was very good at City he wasn't very fast or particularly good with the ball at his feet. He's strong, good in the air and a decent poacher....
You see what I mean? I don't get it either, their descriptions are almost identical if you talk about Negredo at the back end of his City career;
but Negredo was
LETHAL for a while wasn't he. Lethal!
GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! GOAL!
goal!
Goal!
goal! GOAL!
Lethal! For a bit, absolutely lethal! Scared defences to pieces.
Strong and good in the air. Held it up really well and had a connection with Kun that just worked. Flicks, runs, long shots, Set-pieces, the lot, all just paying off, for both of them.
...and then he was gash. Really, really poor. Really poor!

Really, really poor. But he'd been lethal,
absolutely lethal for a while. It just worked out, and IMO they look like pretty similar players, if the recent evidence is to be believed. For me, at their bests they're pretty much the same sort of player. Strong and good in the air. Good at taking half chances. Bony and Negredo, all obviously IMO (and all that shit) are very, very similar, so "What led us to believe he'd be any good for us?" Really?
POINT ONE - His career at Swansea? Top scorer over 12 months in the prem., playing for a rival prem. team. This rival team like to play a bit of football. They like a nice pass and move. they have a fairly fluid approach to the game, and they often have the majority of the ball in many of their prem. matches. They like to play the game by individual skillfulness on and off the ball.
POINT TWO -
should there need to be another point?
So, you know what? I'm going to give this new lad a chance. There looks like enough of a player in there for me to be hopeful. And Bony scored lots of different goals against lots of different sides when he was at Swansea. Bit like that Negredo bloke early on last year. I reckon when he learns how to play in a two, and his game starts to click with Aguero's, he'll be as lethal as Negredo was for us.
.... won't he?
oh, kippaxkidman, chill & breathe, it helps.
