I thought his hold-up play in the first half was fairly good, but he was a passenger for much of the second half. To be fair though we offered nothing as a team going forward after half time, so he wasn't the only one having an off day. I imagine he's still a bit short of match fitness given the injuries and malaria too.

I hope Iheanacho starts on Wednesday though, would love to see what he can do if given a full 90 minutes.

I'm not convinced by Bony one bit, he just doesn't look hungry enough. I can accept a lack of effort, but not a lack of desire and effort, and I don't think he shows that.

Nacho does and I would reward him for that on Wednesday!

I know you have all missed me and my thoughtful insight on the £25M donkey.

Thought I would give it a few days after what can only be described as another shambolic performance against Sevilla which I think was widely agreed on this thread. That is apart from those that will not admit that they may have been wrong over Bony.

Now moving onto yesterday I thought for patches in the first half he was doing okay. Not great just okay. What was letting him down and still does is his lack of mobility. When he plays a good pass/lay off he doesn’t move quick enough to receive the ball back and because he is playing so deep we are playing without a striker.

As for his performance in the second half if that hasn’t sealed his fate with some of you on here then you really do have bling faith. He was a disgrace to even be allowed to wear our shirt.

He has his chance now and failed appallingly he should be dropped right down the pecking order and Kelechi should be the first choice. There is no excuse for the abysmal displays we have had to witness he needs to work harder but doesn’t seem to have it in him. Just a lazy player.

There are no more excuses you can push to defend him any more we are better off having Harvey Price play up front.

After your shambolic performance against Sevilla - you've just had another one.

It's coming close to the point where you can officially label him a bad purchase.

He isn't a bad player - he's a very good player infact. He just isn't the right player for us, at all, which is why he's barely scoring. In this system we need a player with loads of intelligence, good positioning, trickery and most importantly great movement. Unfortunately for us Wilfried is very clearly a big and powerful target man who can hold the ball up well - we need more than that.

If we start getting some good crosses into him he'll more be able to show his worth, but that doesn't seem like happening.

Not suited to our style of play. Players like him shine when playing for teams like Swansea because they are afforded more space. For us where we are usually trying to break down a defence, he is often closed down very quickly.
We do need another striker in the mold of aguero rather than bony to support ichna and Sergio, or someone who plays wide but scores, sim to Ronaldo. Step up sterling!

He's a good player, but he just doesn't fit our system at all. Put him in a team that doesn't have such an emphasis on possession and scoring the "perfect goal" and he'll do well. What we need is a player that, when Aguero is out, comes in and plays the same way as the rest of the team, a player that when the ball goes up to them they have a good touch and can pick a decent pass, or can beat his man and use the pace they have to run away from them, not get caught up immediately. Just an example of the top of my head is Ayoze Perez but there are others too.

For the moment I think we need to use Kelechi just to inject that pace and hunger because it's not just Bony not doing enough offensively, he seems to walk around when the CBs have the ball not doing anything, he could at least try to mark a defensive midfielder.

I was always a bit wary of this signing at the beginning,a big fish in a little pond at Swansea, but totally opposite here, but I'm more pissed off at the fact we let both Dzeko and Jovetic leave,I agree with all posters on this thread that he ain't a bad player, but there's somert missing from him when he plays, but it's just not good enough
