Re: Player topic: Yaya Toure (2014/15)

I think it has to be done. A reluctance to evolve the team in regards to its key players has shown a bit of fear from city IMO. I think we've signed around Yaya for years and never really given him any competition, and attitude that bites us when he is not available. I think the team needs to rebuild and however capable Yaya still is I think him going is a vital part of any attempt to evolve, because he is so central to this current teams way of playing, both in its flaws and attributes.

It'll be sad to lose our first top quality generation but if it doesnt happen we will drop off, simple as that and I think if Yaya is our best central midfielder going into next season we will be challenging for 3rd/4th not the title. Yaya needs to be sold and replaced with a younger world class CM like Koke or Pogba IMO and city need to be not so afraid of the unknown and the future.

Re: Player topic: Yaya Toure (2014/15)

If Yaya is sold we'll need to sign 2 quality CMs bare minimum

Pogba, Khedira, Fernandinho and Song/De Jong would be my choice for next year just because Pogba would be an even more important signing, and half the fee (or close to it) could be recouped by the Yaya transfer and swapping Fernando for a free agent like Song or De Jong - tho of course wage demands come into play in determining whether it'd be better to give Fernando another year.
Either way, Khedira alongside Pogba and Silva in midfield should work extremely well, he's hardworking, can run all day, and he's another with no transfer fee involved.

It'd allow us to sign another 'game changer' in the AM/winger position. Personally, Pogba and Bale are pretty close to 'musts' after the last few years of letting 'marque' players join our rivals (even non rivals in Arsenal)

-------------Aguero
----Nasri----Silva----Bale
--------Pogba--Khedira
/
--------Aguero--Bony
----Silva----------------Bale
--------Pogba--Khedira

Ideally, unless we got a fee too good to turn down (which is unlikely) , I wouldn't sell Yaya and instead give Pogba a year to settle
--------------Aguero
----Bale-----Yaya-----Silva
---------Pogba--Khedira

Khedira is a free agent.

Letting go of Kolarov, Lampard, Dzeko, Jovetic, Yaya would save us around 30m in wages and you'd hope to get around 60-70m in transfer fees

We also expect around 400m in revenue

Looks like he might be considering international retirement;

Not to mention, it's fairly academic, cos he isn't going to playing at anywhere near his current level by the time the next AFCON comes around, whether it's with us or someone else
