Why should he have to bust a gut in defense? Because he's big and black? He's in the Xavi, Lampard, Gerrard, Fabregas, Pirlo, Scholes mold. He's obviously a liability in defense so get the players we need to protect him so he can do what he does best.

If you've learned nothing else from watching Barcelona/Bayern/etc dismantle us in Europe, it should be that great teams all have a work ethic. Barca press to win the ball back consistently, Bayern the same. The very best players maybe don't commit 100% to this, conserving some energy for attack, but they're very close. At this point, we're carrying way too many one way players and we suffer as a result. Yaya plays the most demanding 2 way position in the sport, it simply isn't an option for him to be one dimensional, not in football the way it is played today. A non-pressing, low work rate CM has to basically be Pirlo to justify a starting XI spot at the highest levels of the sport now.

Where have all the sycophantic Yaya fans gone????? the ones that say he's our best player and look at our record when he doesn't play???

1) He's been average at best all season

2) Even when he was powering past people and scoring goals last season he was still a liability when we didn't have possession in big games, defensively he's woeful in open play and from set pieces where he should be an asset given his size he's also pretty poor. The good stuff he did going forward last season and it was very very good I'll agree masked the defensive deficiencies ....

3) So what is the problem, why does he NOT bust a gut to get back when we lose possession, surely that's a minimum requirement for a top professional footballer? ...
- Is he carrying an injury (ehh no co he never has made much of an effort to track back period)
- Is he not fit enough, well he f*cking should be given the money he gets paid
- If non of the above then it either means he just can be arsed or he thinks he's above some hard graft for the team cause .... THE BLOCKE IS A PRIMA DONNA MY FRIENDS ... ALWAYS HAS BEEN.... We should have shipped him out last summer when he started that pathetic bullsg*t about cake or something, Bet we could have got some decent money but since he's been average this season for us and the Ivory Coast in ACON he'll be worth about two bob come summer ......

This - The simple fact is ( and watch the goal ) is he is a lazy twat who couldn't even be arsed trying against the club that flogged him.

This guy doesn't deserve an actual answer to his question.

Yup, the game looked up for Ya Ya last night, never more so than when he got free down the right hand side in the 2nd half, in full gallop, only to be overhauled before then falling down pathetically in search of a free kick. In short his legs have gone. We maybe able to play him at home to West Ham or Villa, but in games where a modicum of defensive duty is required, he's a busted flush. Why Pellegrini can't grasp this simple fact is beyond the wit of man. It was like having 10 men last night, til he was eventually put out of his misery. One of the greatest players we've ever had at City, but his time's up

Completely disagree. You do not lose you legs in a 3 month span. He was fine in May. He has been shit since August. Again, your legs don't go in three months. Your attitude certainly can, however.
Agree, his legs looked fine a couple of times in forward gear last night, but totally f**ked in reverse gear, so its not his legs having gone at all.

I've long since ceased to be amazed at some of the posts on here.

The Guardian: City plan to sell some of the biggest names this summer and begin a youth revolution headed by Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne.

I'll ignore the bollocks you've posted at the start but most of those players you've just named worked their arses off defending from the front.

In short since we signed him we have had some fantastic performances out of him and some brilliant goals as well as vital goals. Unfortunately like all players time has caught up with him and whilst we could stick him up front for 20 minutes to amble around we can't stick him in a midfield two and ask him to control the game. When I saw the team I actually thought we would play Ferny and Jimmy behind Silva, Nasri and Yaya as that would have made sense.

If Barca's best players do not commit 100% to pressing given their primary role is attack why do we insist on putting arguably our best player in a position where he has to commit 100% to tracking back and defensive duties when he clearly is unsuited to the role?
