In the German game I remember them flooding forward as a team in the 1st half at every opportunity and they deserved their lead. It was immediately noticeable in the 2nd half that when they did break that only the man on the ball, and 1 or 2 players would go forward in support so that makes me think that they made a tactical change of which we took full advantage. We played a very good game 2nd half. But you're only telling half the story. We managed to physically impose ourselves on them because they were happy to let us have the ball, and they conceded territory quite happy to defend their penalty area.Did they fuck sit back, they tried to carry on where they left off, targeting our right hand side but we didn't let them out because we pressed them so well.

The way you could tell whether it was us forcing them back, or Borussia retreating was by what they did with the ball - and they didn't support the man on the ball.
We have to adapt our game to cover for the weakness in his game. Works if what he brings to us when he is on the ball is quality that we don't have in other players. He needs a big performance on Monday, but also needs to be protected by whoever plays alongside him.
They were knackered after playing Bayern in a match they played out of their skins. Look at our players in that second half vs Swansea that's what happened to them.Nonsense, watch that second half again and you'll see even from the very start of the half when Hart's taking a kick out there is 5 BMG players in our half, that's not a side that's retreating.

Pellegrini obviously thinks its too soon to replace him. I was hoping that when Silva returned we'd have enough creativity in the team in De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Aguero to play a more industrious high tempo game in midfield with even a runner into the box into the bargain. When Toure plays, no one gets in the box, because one has to stay deep in case the opposition break on us, because Toure isn't going to sprint and close anyone down. When is gets desperate and we're chasing a game, we're wide open and games get very open.
At the same time I know we started the season very well with Toure in the team, so I recognise that we can still play good football and win games with him in the side. I would like us to be a little bit less reliant on him though. We are going to have to start playing without him soon enough. Pellegrini must have decided to soldier on for the moment.
Watched the 1st 5 mins and I am seeing what I claimed. A Borussia team who are not supporting the man on the ball. Whether it's tiredness or the coach's instructions, or inexperienced players who are instinctively defending what we have, who knows for sure, but I suspect that after only 45 mins they can't be that tired.
No doubt Pellegrini had a go at City at half time, but for me the 2nd half was not a battle which City slowly got the better of, it was a total turnaround, and part of that is because Borussia chose to sit back.
