Certainly he wasn't protecting the back four so how many chances he created today? How many tackles he won? Did he dictate the game play? No he didn't. Number of headed clearances he made today or how many times he made a complete mess of trying to head the ball towards his teammates? How exactly he was immense today?

Yes but that is not an immense performance. Kante's game by numbers vs. City: 6 blocks, 5 clearances, 3 tackles and won 2 interceptions.
Think he was great today. Great passing and good defensivly. Won six tackles and did seem to put a shift in for once.
