That's where we disagree for the other 89 minutes he will have made more passes than any other player, will often have made more tackles than anyone on the team, will have been central to everything .
As I mentioned in another post; against Leicester he got called lazy , in that game he made 6 successful tackles , the whole of our defence made 6 and I think the other ten players combined made 10. Yet this passes by un noticed as when he is just tackling , passing, intercepting or running the show it seems to be ignored. Even without his magic , strength and goals he would be a great Premier league footballer but he is not credited for his role that holds or side together as the link between defence and attack, frequently the player who sets up every attack or clears a corner and nearly always our main passer and most consistent player
I have repeated this a few times and no doubt will a few more but if you look at the concept of extended assists (i.e. not just the last player to touch the ball before the goal-scorer but one of the last five), Yaya was second in the league last season. I imagine he is up there again this season.
He doesn't win loads of balls via tackles but he does make a lot of ball recoveries (a stat not often highlighted) and often leads the team in that regard. He does so because he reads the game well, moves intelligently and is not the lazy so and so he is often accused of being but a player who trys to focus on being in the right place when he needs to be.
