But the professionals do look at stats and use technology to review games so maybe just relying on eyes on the game is not the best approach?

As you may well know City has a team working on stats. Over the years it didn't bring a lot other than part of what we are building. We always end this discussion the same way. Stats are no more or less part of the game. So is a pair of eyes. And obviously the ones in command discussing one thing and the other. It's just that some of you use stats to prove a point. At that point l state l rather trust my eyes.

I think he's an immensely talented player. A lot of the negativity stems from perception. It doesn't look good when he lets people go past him or ambles around with his hands on his hips. I know people have said that Silva and de Bruyne are just as guilty but they're specialised attacking midfielders /playmakers, not centre mids. By all means keep him in the side but unless we play with Fernandinho and Delph, we're prone to be overrun in the middle. That means that Toure, KDB, Silva, Navas and Sterling are vying for 3 available spots.

I think we need to abandon the idea of 'star' players who have to start games & instead pick teams to win v whichever opposition. If that means more energy in midfield & only one of Silva DeBruyne or Yaya start, on some occasions, so be it.

You may not be quite such an angry man, I haven't accused anyone of racism and I am surprised that it would be taken as such. It's a fact eto'o , Toure, weah etc have never been much loved ,

I don't think it's racism and didn't say it was because it's not a colour issue or origin issue as many of our heroes have been of other races but there is a cultural issue of how African footballers are portrayed, Yaya would be the first to say it too ,look at his own interview about Bony and some of his other CDI team mates who he has raised this very issue about.

things are never so simple .....

@EalingBlue2; you shouldn't let anyone bully you into apologizing about a fair statement... as i mentioned b4 one the guys on the bluemoon podcast made a point on discussing that same issue about african players and the lazy label... i detest keyboard tough guys... report the abusive posts and keep up your sensible reasoning... cheers.

I agree. Against the likes of stoke,Liverpool and spuds, if we'd have played a 4-4-1-1 (sagna, Otamendi, Mangala, clichy. Zabaleta, Fernandinho, Toure, Kolarov.
Silva /debruyne /sterling.
Aguero or something similar, we wouldn't have been or seemed so lightweight.
I don't think MP is utilising our squad properly. Different teams in the premier league have different strengths and weaknesses. We're not adapting to counter this at all. It's just making opposition manager's jobs a lot easier if they know for a fact who our first eleven are and how they'll set up.

I wish people would stop taking what pundits/journalists say as gospel.

Think for yourselves.

The only thing that's lazy about Yaya is the way people form their opinions of him.

Of course, we are incapable of observation or independent thought. That's why it's so gratifying to receive advice from some random internet poster.

And I would rather try and back my observations with stats :-)

If stamina is not the issue, then why are Yaya's "telling contributions" limited to a 10-15 minute spell at the end of a game?

To be able to turn it on and be so effective, so consistently, for those short spells in games proves it's not a problem technically. So he's either physically incapable of producing the same level of performance for the other 75-80 minutes or it's a mental issue. I used to think it was sheer laziness or lack of commitment to City but now I just think it's more a case of Yaya himself knowing his own physical limitations (lack of stamina) and trying to conserve energy for those larger spells in games.
I think that over the last 15 minutes of a tight game, the opposition change. They sit deeper and allow space in front of them because they have a lead or a point to protect. Arsenal did it and to the experts on Sky (I know,I know) it looked like Yaya had just decided to start playing. He'd been trying all game but wasn't afforded the space or time to work In. As Arsenal sat deeper and pressed less he was able to get on the ball more often. It happens often with him.

If he's so ineffective when he hasn't got the time or space to play, why play him against anybody half decent?
