The obvious answer is to have a fresh Yaya on the bench to come on with 30 minutes left and make a difference.

He could be fantastic as an impact player but the question is would he be happy with that. In other words being dropped for Delph or Fernando is unlikely to go down well.
Seeing as he is 10 times the player either one is, i D understand. Give me Verrati, Gundogan or even the non tackling Gomez and I'll drop Yaya too. But what we've got on the bench? No!!! When Nasri gets back, maybe for him, but none of the current backups are even close

Thats the issue. Yaya is a long way from perfect but the other players are a million miles from being able to play his role. He himself must be wondering, when watching player after player being rotated, why in a squad costing so much do we not have a player who can perform his role

Silva

Looked at some of your other posts. Yaya is not the only coming in for some bad language from you is he?
Yaya has given me some of my best moments as a fan (Wembley, Newcastle etc)
You should stop sitting in a time warp.Over the years Yaya has been immense but its truly time to call it a day and thank him for how he`s helped transform our Club.Unfortunately there is no room for sentiment in this game.

Why do we have to have a like for like player perform the same role?

You don;t think in a squad of 20 odd internationals we can;t put together a team that can go to a mid-table team like Everton and compete in a semi-final.

You are correct you do not necessarily need every player to have the same skill set but the way our team plays we do need a conduit from the defence/midfield/attack.

When Yaya has not filled this role (not played or been pushed forward) the side has gone more direct resulting in the striker having unsuitable service (we do not have a target man) and De bruyne and Silva getting the ball in the pockets of space between the midfield and defence for them to exploit. See the spurs/utd game for these characteristics.

Sadly we do have many international but the players in midfield are not possessed with much in the way of creative passing either short or long. Neither do they take responsibility. Sadly it is required. Hence managers like Mourinho/Pep have bought players like Fabregas/Alonso to provide that range of passing from deep.

Probably his worst performance of the season, which has had some serious contenders. The defensive side of his game is always pretty suspect, but he's usually reliable with the ball. Today he couldn't even pick a pass and was giving it away for fun. Just cannot cope with a high tempo game

The pace of the first 20 minutes, when we had all the possession, attacked them and moved them around, and regularly nicked the ball back off them quickly, took its toll on him I think. He was fucked after half an hour. What good is that?
