Sorry to disappoint, but its one of the things that drives me mad. He actually started the season in great form, looked back to his best, but that's long been forgotten, and no doubt he has recently been out of form/tired/injured/missing Silva, or all four. He got a deserved rest last week, where we missed his influence at keeping the ball, and returned to be excellent on Tuesday, so no it wasn't "a start".

Many people never got over 'cakegate', and he's been shit ever since according to them, despite the fact at the time he'd just lost his brother. He's not infallible, he's caused trouble here on occasions, and says stupid things, he's also not a captain for me, but he's one of the best 3 or 4 players I've ever watched for this club, and he still has a lot to give us. Many think he'll be gone when we get Pep, I'm not so sure, I think Pep is quite capable of getting another couple of good years out of him, by using him wisely.

If he leaves us next summer he'll go with my great thanks, though reading this thread I sometimes wonder if I'll be the only one.
Not at all mate. I think he is one of the greatest players to ever wear our shirt. Up there with the best including Colin the king. Personally I think he has more years to give yet, maybe not every game but he is still top draw. Then I'd be looking at finding him a role at the club. I've said before anybody who doesn't see him as a legend is a complete muppet and not worthy of being a blue.

Me too.

Its nice to see all these positive posts, I had thought I was becoming one of very few, but its nice to see others standing up for him (please don't be shit tomorrow Yaya !). I really would like to find a role in the club for him for the future.

I would love it if he wins the African Footballer of the year award too. He has won it 4 years on the bounce and only Eto'o has also won it 4 times. George Weah has 3. He can then claim to be Africa's best ever player. But I reckon Aubameyang will win it.

well done to yaya and he is still a world class player when he wants to be
but the bbc award is nothing shout about and I don't like to tag people with from this country or that and when football is trying to kickout racism we still one have a africain footballer of the year. can we just have a football player of the year please its 2015 and I don't see black or white green yellow just a football player

So does that mean you don't want to a European Footballer of the Year, or a South American Footballer of the Year, either?

People should really be taking of Toure, Silva and Aguero in the same way as Bell, Lee and Summerbee. Arguably in more glowing terms. I'd add Kompany, Zableta and Hart to that as well. We have become too critical. These are true City legends. Players who will deserve recognition in decades to come. It has been and still is an honour to watch them play.

Well said, mate.

Five of the six you mention have been part of the squad since before we won the FA Cup in 2011 and Kun arrived the summer after.

We speak of Lee, Bell, Summerbee and the others from that era in reverential terms, but these six players will go down in City's history, if we had one, at least on a par with those greats.

Weah was some player!

Great post, we'll move on, onwards and upwards in fact, but in my time they're up there with the best of Bell, Lee, and Summerbee.

Many have become far to critical, I'm not sure if they are new City fans, or old school blues, but my hope and expectation is that the majority are mostly new. I'm apparently a 'happy clapper', though I prefer to see it as being a realist. I don't ever turn up expecting us to win every week, I still treat every win as a bonus, but I'm lucky to be watching the best ever City team I've ever seen.

I've just watched the Gladbach game again, and that second half is some of the best football you can watch, and we've played better than that.

You say about Toure, Silva, and Aguero, but I'd add Fernandhino, his contribution on Tuesday was as good as any that that three can produce.

Now we all know you weren't at the game on Tuesday night, Yaya was played in a very deep defensive midfield role behind Fernandinho and Delph with Silva in the No.10 (or false 9) role. De Bruyne and Sterling were played as forwards who drifted wide occasionally so there's very little to discuss. Maybe the pre match formation BT Sport showed had him in the No.10 role and Sterling up front which is how I thought we might
play but it was evident from the first
whistle that wasn't the case.
No matter how good their passing and movement was in certain areas on Tuesday night, it wouldn't have happened to Barcelona or Bayern because their aggressive pressing would have killed it.
We can't press that aggressively because of Yaya, he just can't keep up with the rest of the players energy and it badly affects our defensive structure if one
player is not fit enough or doesn't have the fight to cover his teammates when they press.
Cmon man I don't follow those formations but I know he started a number of attacks and made a few bursting runs and because we had no out to out striker I'd say it was a fair mix of forward play and
deep positioning, that doesn't nullify the
rest of the post though that even when we had enough bodies, we got 'outpassed' especially in the first half and even our other midis would hardly close a player down or put in a tackle. But I guess it's easier and more convenient to adopt the
usual cliché that it's all mr. Xyz's fault. Even my previous post says that he was putting the effort in deep areas. There was indeed a lot of running from our players but little disruption of their play when they had the ball despite our numbers and that says it all for me.
