Players lying down behind the wall on free kicks

It will last another season or two and we’ll look back on this in a few years and laugh about the time football teams did the “draught excluder” for absolutely no bloody reason whatsoever.

In my 33 years watching football, I’ve seen Ronaldinho score under the wall twice and de Bruyne once and that’s it. There would be more of a case to put a defensive wall up at the front post on corners.

It’s a bloody nonsense!
Hasn’t KDB done it twice, or am I going mad? Lol

Bournemouth and Leicester, I think. Or was it Cardiff?

The long throw seems to be making a comeback and I always think it’s mental having all 10 outfield players defending them in the box. Only adds to the chaos.
Hughes was fucking useless but one good tactical idea he had was when he totally neutralised Stoke by lining up his three fastest players spread across the halfway line, they had to bring four men out

Think this is in theory makes sense but in reality it doesn’t seems to stem from KDB scoring a goal or two a few years ago now and no one else seems a disproportionate response basically wasting a man

is it a waste of a defensive player.i have only ever seen a couple of goals go under the wall so surely it would make more sense to have him mark someone
Heard a commentator in the Spurs v City game saying its ridiculous because he'd never seen the player block anything.

But because the player is there, nobody tries to go under the wall, so the player himself doesn't ever block the shot!!

However, the player being there does allow the wall to jump as high as it can to try and block the free kick without worrying about the shot going beneath them.

As the wall becomes taller, blocking that half of the goal, this also lets the keeper be more certain in watching his half of the goal.

Need to not look at how often the player lying down blocks the shot but the overall of how many of the free kicks in shooting range end up going in.

I don't think there's any worth in them marking someone extra usually, I think doing this does help.
