Players season ratings

Considering he cost £5m or so in wages, it was a pretty poor return on investment. I was more generous and gave him 4 IIRC.
So if Aguero gets hit and killed by a bus next season will you rank him a 1 because we had to pay his family compensation?

Fernandinho perhaps player of the year for his consistency and drive from midfield. KDB excellent first season and will get better and better as he matures and gets fitter. Aguero spent too many games struggling for full fitness but his goal return shows he is still world class. But Navas my POTY: consistently high level of performance, never shirks, never stops, sublime first touch, retains possession, defends better than any other winger in the league, carries the ball in transition from defence to attack, pace, poor finisher but a great team player and for me edges it over Ferna.

Bruyne, 9 - Goals per game and assists per game must be best in the Premiership.
Fernandinho, 7 Didn't like him in the defensive holding role. Waste of his athleticism. A player who suffered for having to cover for the supertanker
Aguero, 9 - Once again astonishing goal stats. Outscored goals per game everyone else so anyone who has him average is quite frankly an idiot.
Clichy, 6 - Good when match fit.
Navas, 6 - Works as hard as anyone, but terrible finishing.
Hart, 8- As good as any keeper except maybe Neuer
Iheanacho, 8 - Fantastic first season.
Otamendi, 7- OK. Goes to ground too much
Sagna, 6 - Great defensively, but very poor going forward. Not like Zabaleta used to be and we have missed that going forward
Silva, 7 - A poor season by his standards. We know why. Ankle. Still very effective.
Toure, 2 - Appalling. Doesn't matter how good your technique is, if you can't physically compete you should retire. Disgrace he played so many games.
Fernando, 8 - Most improved player.
Kolarov, 3 - Bi-polar. Either very good or very bad. Seems to have zero commitment.
Mangala, 6 - makes too many mistakes. Got talent and good technique. He'll probably go elsewhere and become a great defender
Bony, 3 - Seems not to have the mental strength to handle playing for a big club. Lost confidence
Delph, 5 - I think he's a much better player than we have seen. Season badly affected by injury.
Kompany 4 - Fantastic start to the season and then we had the injuries.
Nasri, 4 - Big loss losing him whilst Silva was injured.
Sterling, 6 - Started well then dipped.
Zabaleta, 4 - Seems to have lost a bit of pace. Some very poor games
Demichelis, 3 - OK as a sub coming on in defensive midfield. Too slow to be a central defender now

So you have not been impressed with Aguero's 24 league goals at a strike rate of 1 goal every 95 minutes?

nice stat, scored in 15 league games, didn't score in 14 league games, so only goals in every other game. Out of those 15 games, 14 of those 24 league goals came in just 5 games. So he's had great games, but over the season I don't think he's been consistent enough, he hasn't looked close to full sharpness and he hasn't been the consistent match-winner he was in the past, especially last season when he carried us to 2nd.

Scored more than once: Newcastle (H) 5, Villa (H) 2, Chelsea (A) 3, West Ham (A) 2, Palace (H) 2.
Scored once: Stoke (H), Newcastle (A), Leicester (H), Sunderland (A), Bournemouth (A), West Brom (H), Watford (A), Chelsea (H), Liverpool (H) & Arsenal (H).
Didn't Score: Palace (A-Injured early) W, West Ham L, Spurs (A) L, Watford (H) W, Everton (A) W, Man Utd (H) L, Arsenal (A) L, Leicester (A) D (Yes we should have had a penalty), WBA (A) W, Everton (H) D, Tottenham (H) L, Liverpool (A) L, Norwich (A) D, Southampton (H) W.

Lots of games there he didn't score in we went on to lose or drop points in, 24 out of 42 in fact. Not expecting him to score every game, but it shows how his performances have been in fits and spurts this season rather than consistent goalscoring, and how important his contribution to our success. Just don't think he's been close to his best throughout the season.

I think JMW's post might be slightly under doing Aguero's performance, but he's not been great by his standards, he's missed lots of simple chances, and for me he's not been a great team player, he often doesn't look to pass to others better placed, looking after himself rather than the team.
