He’s arguably the most talented Dutch youngster at present. Valente has been called up into this week’s national squad and is another fine prospect, but he’s taller, heftier, and has two years on Smit. At the current rate, Smit will have around 4,000 minutes of first-team football under his belt by next summer, so I expect someone will make a move for him. He’s also a grafter, a trait all too often overlooked.

Smit and Bouaddi are both young but would complement what we already have and could develop without pressure. They’d also cost a fraction of what we’d have to pay for someone in England, and price tags can weigh heavy on players.

Had an unsuccessful move to AC Milan but has since gone to Atalanta where he's been very good for the last 2 and a half seasons. One of Atalanta's key players alongside Ademola Lookman, Éderson and Marten de Roon.

Seen Kees Smit from AZ a few times this season seeing as he's one of the names on our list, and I must say I've been very impressed. He looks ready made for a Pep City team. Plays like a dutch Pedri and we have to be one of the teams in there for this lad.

Prefer him to Wharton and Anderson personally (both who I rate highly).

Very impressed when I watched him v Palace. Looked top drawer. Just the off the ball intelligence will show you how good he's going to be. On the ball he looks a mixture of Pedri and KDB. Rarely wastes a pass.

Great post. I'd do exactly the same. Anderson and Wharton will cost you 80m plus, and you can get 2 players combined who have higher ceilings in my opinion. If homegrown comes into it, then we would have to bring Wharton or Anderson in.
