I have always said I would prefer JWP to Phillips. Also based on last season I still stand by it.If we're looking at back-up players, Brennan Johnson and James Ward-Prowse would be decent acquisitions.

It's Napoli so couldn't see it getting done to us, that and the starting point is north of 80m by all accounts which is a risk for me

Brennan Johnson is what we'd have if we gave Borges or Mebuda a chance. The reasons we'll probably get rid of them are the same reasons we won't go for Johnson.
He's too direct for us. And kind of not good enough.

He would never do much more like you say but would always play when required. Think he’s done 2 season at saints where’s he’s played every minute. Set pieces are good, even played right back for them. I think he’s underrated and would be a useful SQUAD player for us.Ward-Prowse... It's the learning of the system, the intelligence and how good he is technically receiving the ball etc I'm not sure about. Though I suppose Fabian Delph managed ok enough for a while!
His set pieces are fantastic, but while we have De Bruyne taking right-footers I don't think it'd make a big difference. Possibly though, but a move to us would be a huge step up for him.
