Players who might improve us

We have to go to spain and pay release clauses or look for gems.

FFS we were offered Enzo Fernandez for 12 mil but said no because our midfield then had Gundo, KDB, Rodri.

Ferran Torres would be a good option imo.
Can play 9, very good finisher, gets in the box, knack of being right place at the right time. Look at his 2nd vs Dortmund, none of our wingers got that finish in the locker.
Isn't regular starter for Barca and don't they owe us money for him still?

I always thought he was decent. Didn't he get a hatrick against the geordies?
Obviously nothing like as good as Alvarez. But he'd have been a good option off the bench to reduce Erling's minutes.
But that ship has sailed. However re the money they owe us, do they have any youngsters we'd be interested in?

Pedri and Gavi both will only have 1 year left on their contracts at Barcelona come summer 2025.

The downside despite having only 1 year left from the summer they both have a high buy out clause.
Pedri buy out is €500m
Gavi buy out is €1B
We should tell both to run their contracts down and sign them in 2026.

Don't know about him but Vanderson would he my pick as our RB target

I don't watch nearly as much European football as I used to, but he looks very well rounded unlike Firmpong who's basically a winger playing full back

He is quick, strong, good going forward and pretty good defending for a mdoer fullback

Either him or Kayode I'll be very happy with, don't think either would cost a bomb either

Savinho at 20 years old should be our 4th choice winger, settling in, learning the ropes with 2 two established wide players doing the heavy lifting and contributing significantly to goals and assists. Unfortunately Grealish and Bernardo have done zip. So Savinho and Doku have played more as we’re frankly desperate to find something. Something needs to change out wide and quick!! 5 goals in 80 appearances from all 4 of them this season is frankly embarrassing….

I just like the fact the lad looks mobile and powerful. Looks to be able to pick a pass as well as win the ball.

I’d be happy with us signing any player of that ilk for CM. It’s what’s missing. We have no bite and as a result the defence is very exposed. I’m not a fan of Kovacic as a DM really I don’t think he makes us look especially secure and he’s not the quickest. Think Kovacic plus someone like Camara could be decent.
 
I know it’s done and no point crying about it, but fucking hell, Joao Neves for £50ish mil is an unbelievable bit of business. Really dropped the ball on that one.

and a player the other way. Mendes with his fingers in all the pies in that deal. He must have made a fortune.
 
Ronald Araujo getting towards the end of his contract and could be perfect in that CB RB hybrid mould of Akanji.

Don't know loads about him, is he often injured? but good age and height.
 
Savinho needs the time to develop his game and adapt to the league. The issue we have is that Doku hasn't found consistency either and is also young. With our other options being less dynamic and more predictable in terms of ball retention - Bernardo, Grealish, Foden, Nunes it means we really need them to step up. I understand why we wanted some more dynamism but sadly we're not seeing it consistently yet and the defensive side of their game is missing.

I feel like we should have looked at someone like Ademola Lookman. He's now starting to really deliver that consistency in terms of goals both in Serie A and the CL. Hitting his peak years and the sort of player who could have come in and added something instantly and given Savinho more time to develop. Having two young wingers both unproven at the top level isn't ideal.

I think the issue for Doku and Savinho is tactical as much as it is individual. A lot of the time when either of them receive the ball they have 2 or sometimes 3 to beat and then they're crossing into a crowded box. We need to release them earlier and there's only really KDB that does those sort of passes.

As for the defensive side of the game I think its a little hard to judge them at the minute as the whole team has gone to pot defensively.
