Players you wished had stayed longer

Paul Warhurst.
He played centre half in the first team. It was apparent he had ability. He had that mistake in him though.
I was speaking to a bloke about him on the eve of his move. I said how I thought he was a good player and just had the odd lapse.
He told me he played midfield in the reserves and was outstanding.
Keep an eye on him he said. wish I hadn’t. Turns out he was outstanding in midfield. And outstanding as a striker too.

Sold him for £25,000.

Yep, they tried to cover it up by selling at Christmas. I went to MR for one of the xmas games and the old fogies were livid.

Crossan did really well for us, but he was nearing the end of his career and didnt last long.
I think that Crossan left at much the right time. He had two and a half good seasons with City including winning promotion and consolidating in the First Division. However a knee injury made him less effective. He was probably no going to be able to hold down a regular first team place for much longer.

Remember that goal I think it was against Preston at home when he pinged one in from right off the upright at the North stand.
Remember it well, we were in the gene kelly piss wet through and our free plastic ponchos flapping in the wind. The noise from the ponchos was unbelievable , nearly as unbelievable as the face on the Preston prick that had been laughing at us all the way through until paulo nearly broke the bar to put us two-one up?

Varadi was a decent goalscorer, especially at old Div2 level but never seemed to stay anywhere too long. Had a decent partnership with Stewart but ended up moving on.

Rio, Scholesey, Giggsy, Neville and Ruud for me. Absolute spine of the team.

Yep he was brilliant at Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn and Oldham. He was asthmatic too, if I remember correctly.
