Policing in the UK

If there's no realistic chance of a conviction of a police officer for stamping on someone's head, 7
Each bulletin on talksport since they were charged today has said ‘the footage appeared to show a policeman stamping on his head’

Why isn’t it saying ‘they were charged after footage emerged that appeared to show them both assaulting police officers’? That’s the charge after all, and they are who have been charged.

The police haven’t been charged with anything.
But footage did show a policeman stamping on someone's head.

We don’t know.

The law decrees what is proportional force. It’s been looked at by professionals who know the law, have seen the full context and have decided that it wasn’t disproportionate.

There are more police officers being reprimanded and dismissed these days than ever before. I doubt this has been swept under the carpet, due to the huge publicity it got. It will have been done by the book.
They haven't decided it wasn't disproportionate. They have decided that in the circumstances they wouldn't find enough people on a jury who'd think it was disproportionate enough to convict.

Blimey. Talk about splitting hairs.

I’d contemplate continuing the debate, but I’m not sure we’d find 12 people that would care.

Due process takes time, that's what fuckwits don't understand.

There was a woman on TV today, saying that if a woman is raped today it's 2027 before the matter will come to court. She added that's why many women let it drop, as they don't want to be mithered waiting years for justice because of the trauma. Of course, if the bloke pled guilty, it would be much quicker.

That's how it is, and all the talk of 'two-tier' justice is just a load of bollocks put about by wankers like Farage who want to stir up the mob.
Saved me a job there.

Hardly. Is kicking someone's head then stamping on his head not wrong? It's only because he's a police officer that he's not been charged. The disproportionate defence wouldn't work if this was a pub fight.

Yes, in the same way that killing someone is. It doesn’t mean it was necessarily a crime though as it could have been in self defence rather than it being murder or manslaughter.

It wasn’t a pub fight, Vic.

Well, if it was a crime we'll never know now. But if you think that was self-defence I can't assist further. Nor can a jury.

Yeah, it’s a pointless avenue to go down. Guess nobody is innocent, just that someone has decided there isn’t enough evidence to be convicted of murder.

Millions of decisions are made like this every year. Whether you deem the kick justifiable or not is moot.
