Importance than putting away a couple of knobs who will get theirs when the time comes, don’t you think?
That’s not just due to public cooperation and respect of officers, but also the belief that when a crime is committed that the police will expeditiously and studiously address the matter without malice or undue bias.
When public faith and trust in policing diminishes, crime tends to increase, and usually in magnitudes, not lockstep.
