Political relations between UK-EU

Fancy a KGB member in the communist party not being left wing.
Obsessing over pedantic definitions is an helpful distraction from inconvenient truths

In other news - a distinct disadvantage of Brexit to me personally is that UK citizens are now restricted to old-fashioned duty-free allowances:

For years I have been like a 'mule' for both people in the UK and Cyprus taking suitcases full of goodies - it might affect how much people look forward to seeing me

Again, you're missing the original point which was Putin is not a left winger.

I won't compare him with anyone else because I'm not interested in an analysis of the people I compare him to or their right wing credentials.
I was just responding to the claim that Putin was no more left wing than Farage.

He borrows from the extreme left, whereas Farage doesn’t.

Think we should leave it there anyway.

No he isn’t and Putin isn’t typical of fascism either.

The word “fascist” is dished out like confetti.
It's a matter of opinion. Here's an opinion from someone who seems to know quite a lot about Putin and Russia.

"Van Herpen compares in detail the many and often surprising parallels that exist between Putin’s regime and that of Weimar Germany and Mussolini’s Italy, indicating the presence of strong Fascist elements in contemporary Russia.
However, this is tempered by other elements that show a resemblance with the Bonapartism from Napoleon III’s France and the post-modern populism of Silvio Berlusconi, creating a hybrid system which can be labelled ‘Fascism-lite’. Although ‘Putinism’ has a softer face than Mussolinian Fascism, it still contains a hard core of ultra-nationalism, militarism, and neo-imperialism."

I would describe Farage as a wannabe fascist. He's never been in a position to realise his fascistic tendencies but there's plenty of clues as to what he would be like given the chance, from his scapegoating of migrants to his open admiration of Trump.

Anyway, in spite of all this it's fuck all to do with UK-EU relations so I won't delve further down this rabbithole.

Back on topic have we had our daily Dover queue update yet?

No, but we’ve been spammed with broccoli updates...

’For you Tommy, ze war is over!’ Deary me, I went all ‘Allo, Allo’ for a minute...

We are aware of some UK nationals encountering problems in proving residence to flight operators. We have raised these issues with German authorities, who are in touch with airlines. We advise all UK nationals travelling to check with their flight operator.’ @UKinGermany

There was a British sitcom, ‘Duty Free’ back in the day...maybe time to do a reboot?

Yeah mate, I don’t see much point in continuing the definitions debate in this thread, you’re right, so let’s leave it there.
