Positives From Our Blackest Night In Beswick

Our blackest night in Beswick. Really.
How long have some people been watching City.
By no means was that the worst I've ever seen.

I think some people need to chill out, we were given a footballing lesson by the champions.
The only worry for me is if we don't learn from it.

We learned that you can't press playing 442 against a team if they are anywhere decent playing 4 5 1 never mind the european champions.

We should have learned that there is no use in the modern game for an old style DM, against the likes of bayern it would be a waste of time, all it will do is invite them into our half and pass around the DM pulling him one way then the next, all 3 must be reactive technical players.

We learned that Fernandhino is the fittest player in our team by far, he was constantly doing the work of the missing midfielder running for two men. yet still in the last 10 mins of the game was bursting into their box and still sprinting back when we lost the ball. In as 5 man midfield and with Silva fit we will see what we paid for.

Call me crazy but imo Kolarov should have played with is improved performances of late, nasri looked to play the ball several times keeping the tempo up and clichy was 20 yards too far back and he never pushed their right side up the pitch enough times when he could have done, all down to match sharpness.

In an important difficult game such as this ,if a player can't do at least 45 mins they should not be on the bench with the squad we have.

We learned that Nasri is like a spoilt child at time and should be bollocked and fined for his stupid idiotic yellow card he got.He saw that he was coming off so just kicked out for nothing but just pure selfish stupidity. We may need him for later games that he could be banned for because of that card.

I don't think it will be as bad in munich. but I'm ever the optimist.

The biggest positive for me was that the owners will have seen just how far behind europe's best we really are and what we need to get up with the best.

Surely this season too they will re prioritise the Premier League and tell Pellegrini that's his job.

Reaching the last 16 of this comp really doesn't excite me and let's face it we are not going to win it unless Messi and Ronaldo declare their love for us in January.

What makes you think the Premier League hasn't been a priority in its own right for the owners?

6 changes at Stoke, a ground we never win at, not playing Aguero on Saturday the week after he scores two. (not having that he was injured)

I left early for once and got home with ease, instead of being stuck in traffic. :-)

I didn't spend £ 80 that I was so close to doing buying tickets + parking.

He was listed as injured so we have to take that on face value I suppose , don't forget the international games where its no surprise to have sides like us make 4 -6 changes from game to game , we did it last year regularly.

I think you may be confusing under performing in the league this year especially away from home with your logic.

A means to an end so to speak where as the reality is we just have underperformed.

The side we put out against Stoke was more than capable of winning that game , they played poorly just like they did last night and against Hull and against Cardiff and Villa ( in so far as we created now gilt edged chances from open play and gifted them the win ).

Its a priority alright and right now we are no certs to qualify for Europe next year and that would mean the end of MP and total embarressment for the CEO and DOF.

So its a priority alright don't kid yourself its not.

My pint of Cider in mary ds was fantastic . The only positive of last night for me .
