Post counts

But isnt that my point, why should I or anyone else be "jumped on" because the post count is low, and why should what we have to say be "crap" because the post count is low? What i said wasnt, as you put it, crap, it is a valid point. Despite your assertion that you "dont do that" you have decided that my post was crap because I have a low post count, validating my point further.
When you join a community you don't start off insulting them with what you wrote,we don't know you so you will get a negative reaction, human nature

Tbh I think she thinks that your post is crap because she thinks it's crap, not that it's crap because you have a low post count, I think

oh thats ok, its not crap my point has been validated twice already but ok whatever keeps those with a high post count happy.

Can any of the Mods share what problem they are trying to solve by this action and whether they genuinely believe it will make any difference bearing in mind on another click of a mouse, that information is there?

There is obviously passion on both sides for this, so wouldn't a win win be the ability to either enable or disable it?

Duc is correct in that in life, change is one of the most hardest things to implement, but without understanding why this has occured (and I appreciate your response might be "none of our business"), it was inevitible that many would become vocal.

I posted the above earlier, and would be greatful if one of the MoDs would answer the first part

Sorry mate I can't answer your question for you, although I have replied to some of your earlier posts

Not at all I made a post that other people disagree with, they used the fact that I have a low post count as an excuse for suggesting that anything I have to say is crap and will be jumped on. People who are now clicking on the user name to see a post count before they reply have the obsession not me. I couldnt care less how many posts someone makes it makes them neither a better or worse person that the next and what they each have to say should be judged on content rather than quantity.

I'm not fussed either way.

A low post count is irrelevant for me, talking shite is the red flag.

However, if little tweaks are perhaps being implemented, could we see the return of distinguishing what threads we've posted in?

What it is, is utter shit. As Billy has already explained, he and others (including me) don't give a shit about our own post counts. If you want to pretend that we do in order to divert attention away from the real (and clearly stated over the course of the last 21 pages) reasons people would prefer to keep the post count visible, good luck to you. Classic straw man stuff......

So can we not have an option in preferences so each member can choose if they want their post count displayed? A simple check-box perhaps. That would appease anyone who values their own post count and those who have no wish to display theirs could remain that way.

At least it doesn't highlight somebody as a new poster as much and gives them more of a chance to avoid the usual 'new kid' initiations. Also the joined date will still be there if people wish to avoid discussions with newer members (or 'out' a potential Rag/WUM). Seems a fair balance.

Ric's the boss & although I haven't read all 22 pages (I do have a life!!) I think he is right. To be honest I have never really noticed post counts. I just read the comments & rarely look to the left until I quote someone. What does it matter how many posts someone has? They either post something interesting or something boring!!

Until I quote someone I don't even notice their name! But then I am a bit strange! ;-)

Think you need to read it again then.
You've accused a member of belittling you for your post count when they pointed out that people might give your words a little more credence if you weren't so confrontational, I think you need to go back and read those posts again.
