Post Match: City vs Newcastle

Excellent City win .
Silva looked pure class against Newcastle .
I bet Newcastle hate playing us now .
This win tonight reminded me of how Liverpool used to thrash us in the 80s .
We looked like CHAMPIONS again tonight .

I bet Jimmy Nails not happy tonight .

Well that was good, a training match really. Don't think we even got out of first gear but some superb runs and some excellent football. It was difficult to choose a MOTM but I'm glad it went to David Silva because I wanted him to get his hat trick and he was taken off after two. How often does Mr Pellegrini do that? I've noticed it a few times since he joined us. But, in Mr Pellegrini I trust and will go on trusting.

As an aside: Did anyone else notice that after every goal the advertising hoardings advertised the shirt printing with the player's name on who had just scored at a discount in the club shop 'post match'!!?? Now that is what I call commercialisation!!

Swap Clichy for Kolarov and I would say it is a candidate for our best 11 pre Bony, who may or may not prove that he is better than Edin. The bigger question is are we at our best with Dzeko or Silva "supporting" Aguero? I think the answer depends on who the opposition are. What is hard to deny is that we have not been in a position to field today's starting line-up with all those players fit and in form many times this season or that if those 11 starters play well, they are very likely to beat whoever they meet in the remaining league games.

It's a tricky one the Clichy/Kolorov one. Clichy has been very good the last few months and is clearly a better defender. However, I think Kolorov is worth the risk for the rest of the season with the exception of maybe 2/3 games. His corners are much better (we actually looked dangerous from corners today) and if Dzeko/Bony play then he is worth the gamble for me.

I think Kolarov is our best corner taker but a left back's primary function - and I know I may be showing my age here - IMO is to defend.

Which he did very well today, when called upon.

Silva was great in this match, some good runs and as someone else mentioned; we were playing like champions again. I feel like this is as yaya toure is back, we need him and aguero. They are our two leaders, and I certainly hope pellegrini doesn't sell any of them. Slightly off topic here, but do you think that he should sell one of these players? aguero gets injured a lot, and we really don't need these injuries if we are going to win the title this year.

The most boring 5-0 I've ever watched, we only really played for about 15 minutes of the 90. Newcastle were utter shite, even though they had quite a lot of the ball.

I didn't think we were great, but we did all we needed to do, and that wasn't much.

Well it was a step up on the Hull game ;-)

I missed the game, thankfully, today's result is obviously a considerable "step up" from that, but we weren't great, just did all we needed to against a very poor side.

Absolutely. We should definitely get rid of Silva, Nasri, and Aguero. That would definitely help us strengthen to win the league before the February transfer window closes.
